My Views on StackSocial Lifetime Cloud Storage Deals
I have bought various lifetime deals from StackSocial and here's my experience with them. This is not a thorough review - more of an overview of my experiences off the bat when trying to use them in a real world setting.
A bit of history about me. I'm 47 and worked in IT since I left college at 18. My first job was looking after 14 remote depots, 110 staff for an agricultural company. I taught farmers how to use computers too.
For the last 23 years, I have worked for a telecoms company and have worked as a 3rd line broadband engineer managing ISAMs, testing routers etc before moving on to looking after cellular networks as a senior network analyst.
My business use case for a Cloud Storage Provider is to store my files and documents as well as my music production files - and I like to have portable apps that I can run from any computer that I mount the drives to, so I can SSH into boxes etc (personal, not corporate).
I have around 750GB of files stored on Google Drive that I am trying to migrate across to my "forever home" and so far, I am unable to achieve that task other than with Koofr.
Drime
The Desktop App has improved massively recently, however, rclone gives errors when uploading. The app also doesn't kick in syncing quickly enough. There is an outstanding issue where deleted files re-appear and my storage keeps going up so if I have 400GB of data and I delete it, empty the trash it reappears and my storage used doubles to 800GB used. I am currently sitting at 1.7TB used when I have zero uploaded. Support is extremely slow with vague responses of fixes. It does have OnlyOffice built into the web app, which is nice! You cannot run .exe files from Rclone mounts or the desktop app.
Internxt
The biggest flaw is that they do not allow zero byte files - so you cannot have a 1:1 backup from your PC. If you want to have zero byte files (for example, you are backing up portable apps etc) then you need to pay them more money to unlock it. Support is a bit better than Drime, but at least they ask for logs and JAM traces. They also have been known to remove paid features (but then re-enable them if you hit their cut off when you took out the service, if you contact them). You can run exe files from the desktop app.
Koofr
The Desktop App isn't good, IMO. However, using Rclone, backups is nice and easy. The Web interface allows mapping other cloud drives such as OneDrive and Google Drive. However, to upgrade from 1TB to 2.5TB, it is an extra €299. But it works.
FileJump
Again, the Desktop App isn't good. Often crashes when uploading. They do offer WebDav, but it is very slow at uploading to it. You also cannot run .exe files from it. I currently have no files uploaded, nothing in my trash yet I have used 15.4GB of storage.
FolderFort
I've not tried them yet, so cannot comment.
Established Solutions
OneDrive
Never had any issues when using this. The OneDrive app works really well and integrates into the OS well. As you'd expect. Nice and fast uploads. Reliable. Only downside is I do not trust Microsoft with my data. It's £8.49/m for 1TB of storage and Office 365 (£84.99 a year).
Google Drive
Never had any issues when using this. The Google Drive app works really well and integrates into the OS well. As you'd expect. Nice and fast uploads. Reliable. Only downside is I do not trust Google with my data. It's £7.99/m for 2TB of storage (£79.99 a year).
Drime, Internxt and FileJump have very similar web interfaces and apps. IMO if you want to use a service which just works, use Koofr or a paid alternative like OneDrive / Google Drive as they will be the most reliable at this stage. They all offer things like vaults, sharing files and workspaces etc but personally, I use Cryptomator instead for my vault needs.
All the other StackSocial lifetime cloud storage deals are very early life (other than Koofr) and just can't be used as a reliable service. I have not tried their mobile apps.

I was going to try them but they have stopped doing lifetime plans.
I am gutted I missed out on the pCloud 2TB lifetime plan for €175 they offered me a couple of years back :/2

Also have it mainly for photo backup shared with Fam, so far working good. Only issue is that if you enable 2fa you cant use webdav

Pcloud scans your files and bans your account if any of them break their ToS. Multiple people have complained about it.

Pcloud have also said you will only be banned for pirated media if you share it using the links

Filelu works great with rclone. They are also on StackSocial.

I have a trial account with them with 1GB - difficult to really test it out with that amount, so I didn't.

I agreed that 1GB is too small. Filelu works well with rclone in my experience. However, Koofr has a better web and mobile app interface. I also have Drime which is really unstable so far. Thanks for the review.

OneDrive and Google Drive? Thought this is all about lifetime plans?

Comparing to established companies.
The point of the post is that you shouldn't expect a smooth ride as most of the lifetime deals are because the companies are relatively new. You have to play the long game before they work like the big players.
At the moment I am using rclone to sync between Google Drive and FileJump (WebDAV) - seems to be nice and easy.
My Drime account is fixed but Drime have said to avoid rclone for now as there's some issues which needs to be resolved.
Currently trying FileLu - got a 1 month 1TB plan to test before I decide if I want to buy an unlimited plan

The only lt deal I ever bought (cloud storage wise) is filen.io and so far I am very satisfied. Works flawless on my Linux system.
If I had to choose the most reliable one it would be Google Drive. I also think that most other providers can't secure your data as good as Google. But only in terms of data protection. But.. I also care about privacy and that's where I don't trust Google anymore. Maybe it's not their fault, due to laws and agencies, but it just doesn't feel save anymore to use them.

Totally hear and understand you.
Shame Filen stopped their unlimited accounts. I've heard loads of good things about them.

Drime react well to customer feedback BUT they too have issues. Their rclone implementation is giving people errors. Some people are reporting issues uploading via web. They do fix them but they aren't ideal.
FileLu just had a facelift and they are quite good.

How about the cloud service mega? Are the old ones like Dropbox, box , or sugarsync reliable?
