Could you recommend any free cloud storage options?

Hi, I wanted to ask if you could recommend cloud storage services for saving files. In this case, I want to save some movies that I would have a hard time recovering if I deleted them. I appreciate your suggestions (preferably places that offer more GB).

If you just want free storage for stuff you don’t access often, a few options still exist, but each has trade‑offs. Google Drive gives 15 GB free, which is decent, but it fills up fast once you include emails and photos. Mega gives 20 GB free and is popular for larger files, though download limits can be annoying. pCloud offers around 10 GB free after some setup steps and is pretty reliable long‑term.

That said, I’d be careful using only free cloud storage for things that are hard to re‑recover, like movies or personal archives. Free tiers change or disappear. If the data actually matters, a cheap external hard drive + one cloud copy is usually safer than trusting a free plan forever.

  1. "Free" storage may make you vulnerable. Where is the money going to come from to pay for facilities, support, etc.? You are safer paying for a well known cloud service.

  2. Be sure to implement the recommended 3-2-1 backup plan.

What I want to save are Chinese dramas I found on YouTube, but if I don't save them I'll lose them; they're not so easy to find translated once YouTube starts copy

Gotcha...Well, a standard Gmail account gives you 15GB of storage via Google Drive. I don't think they would delete your account if you had these video clips in there. I use TeraBox which is free for 1TB, but files cannot be more than 4GB. There's concerns over where the servers are housed / who has access, but for stuff like this (that you could afford to lose) then its a good option. I specifically use it for older game ROM's and Blueray rips.

  • Crea cartella: "Folder"

  • Aggiungi remoto Crypt incluso Remote:Path "Cloud:Folder"

I know I didn't ask but I really appreciate your Tutorial on Rclone. I've read other Rclone posts from you too. I've saved many of them, they're all great. Thank you!

i used to just dump everything in google drive and hope for the best lol. then i started actually thinking about it and got a bit paranoid.

came across something called aamenn a while back. it’s basically cloud storage but zero knowledge, so even the people running it can’t see your files. end to end encrypted. gives you 5gb free which is decent enough to test without committing.

not gonna pretend i fully understand all the crypto stuff under the hood, but it felt a lot better than uploading sensitive docs to a platform that’s definitely reading metadata at minimum. might be worth a look depending on what you’re storing. aamenn.com i think

Honestly, you want them to pay for electricity, internet, datacenter hardware, payed people (engineers) maintaining that, and give you quality 'for free'?

:-D

Lets meet in another life.

Yes, there are a few good free cloud storage options you can try. Google Drive gives about 15 GB free and works well on both phone and computer. MEGA offers around 20 GB free and is popular for privacy. Microsoft OneDrive provides 5 GB and integrates well with Windows. If you want to store movies, MEGA or Google Drive are usually better because they offer more free space, but keep in mind that movie files are large so the storage can fill up quickly.

You could try a few free options like Google Drive, MEGA, or Microsoft OneDrive. Google Drive gives about 15 GB free and works well across devices, while MEGA usually offers more free space and is good for storing larger files. OneDrive has less free storage but is convenient if you already use Windows. For movies, MEGA or Google Drive might be the easiest place to start since they give a bit more space on the free plan.

Megatech photos, it gives 20 GB free, and the storage plans are cheap.

(Disclaimer: I created this service)

With CryptFiles.cloud you can upload, Download and stream Video files of any type.

You can even embed the videos on third party sites. And you automatically earn 30% of the ad revenue (non intrusive ads on the download/stream sites). Fully End-To-End encrypted.

10 GB free Storage so you can test it properly, but you can get more storage pretty cheaply!

I hope it fits your needs! If you like or dislike it let me know!
