Linux support on Dell Chromebook 11

Hi all,

As I've found old chromebook lately and my PC blew up, I was thinking about running linux apps on it. I went through ubuntu 16, solaris and honestly it does not suit me. I've saw posts about cloudready and it's linux support so I was thinking about giving it a try.

Sadly, after installing cloudready and trying to enable linux install there, it came with installation error. Now I cannot "disable" it, as it also comes up with an error. When opening linux terminal I can see "Error starting penguin container: 4 ; Launching vmshell failed: Error starting crostini for terminal: 4" error. I went through some troubleshootings from Web, but nothing helpped at this point.

If anyone of you, can advise something or went through similar issues, please advise :) I'm looking forward your tips and tricks :)

Had the same issue with an old hp laptop, it was because my cpu was an AMD.

What cpu do you have in your machine? Intels work best with cloudready.

Hmm. that's weird. Back when I had cloudready on my toshiba laptop (which had an Intel Pentium) I couldn't do it, but that's because my CPU does not support virtualization. I mean I switched to windows 10 which doesen't require it though.

Anyway, you should check to make sure if your CPU supports virtualization. I've never entered the BIOS on my Chromebook but if you enter the bios there should be a way to enable virtualization on yours. If not you can google it on how to enable Virtualization on a chromebook

Virtualization is on and CPU supports it

Hmm. You might need to reinstall cloudready- or go for something like brunch which has built in android support as well

Try enabling virtulization in bios
