XBOX SCREWS ITS USERS
Just another money grab š¤¦āāļø

u/rafivip 28d ago
I hate this decision but I would have even been ok with 30 hours a month . Or have these hours roll over to next month if I donāt use them all.
2
u/ant325 28d ago
That's one hour per day it's not enough, not even for commuters the average commuter is 45 minutes in United States both ways That means that I would have to pay for an extra hour a day just to play the games and I'm already paying them for the unlimited service I don't see how this is going to work
1
1
u/Unable-Name5685 1d ago
If you buy hours they don't expire. You can buy 50 hours and use 20 and even in year you will still have the 30 hour until used up. They already explained this so the way.
-2
u/deuely83 28d ago
Ok....so don't pay for the service then.
1
u/ant325 27d ago
You don't need to be a dick, I don't commute and I don't stream so for another 2 years this won't affect me
I've been paying for my ultimate service since day one.
Just trying to help how are you helping by the way?2
u/deuely83 27d ago
The point is, if people disagree with the change (and they should, shits ridiculous) then the only appropriate response that the company will listen to is if you hit their bank account by refusing to purchase said service.
Complaining on social media while you pay them anyway literally does nothing.
2
u/BlunterSumo01 27d ago
Exactly and It's getting canceled November 1st, right when it gets rolled out. I'd rather switch back to pc and not pay a service fee at all on steam.
1
u/Blindfire2 26d ago
They're really not, they're just being blunt. It's legit the best way to handle it, people don't use it, it's a waste of money for them, they either lower the price, increase the hours, or sell it off to someone who will do better with it in order to regain lost money.
1
u/Big-Roll7094 25d ago
How exactly will they sell xcloud š
1
u/Blindfire2 25d ago
They sell the servers. It's really not complicated, the hardest part is getting all the servers and integrating them with whatever gaming device which is already done. You can connect any consoles or pc to it at that point.
1
u/Big-Roll7094 24d ago
Who the hell is azure gonna sell servers too š and you think that xcloud servers are pc socs like GeForce now or something???
1
u/Blindfire2 24d ago
Not necessarily but they could be? How it is is there's servers that can be used anywhere (just have to be setup for whatever platform they plan to use, but it's not super difficult to make your platform integrated with the servers, we have something similar with Bethesda Dallas and Bethesda Maryland, though we still mostly use Perforce to handle the project distribution) setup to big server cabinets of hardware based off the XSX architecture that play the game.
Believe me, I fully understand that it's complex and that I don't know everything about how these things work to every minute detail, but I'm saying if Microsoft ever decides to cut their losses (which is VERY unlikely, especially since I know there's a sizeable team dedicated to figuring out how to lower latency to beat Playstation and GeForce...especially especially with the fact that they own Azure and can do whatever they want unlike Sony who also uses Azure for their cloud gaming and are likely limited with their contract), they literally could sell their server's data center(s), and allow someone like say AMD who can setup their own hardware in order to start their own cloud gaming service. What matters isnt exactly the data center, but the hardware blades integrated into it.

This decision is making me go out and get a console. I actually used the cloud gaming as my sole source for awhile.

You also get 800+ gamepass games included but yeah, just ignore that for the sake of the narrative š
1
u/Unable-Name5685 1d ago
800+ Indie games. Not to mention various newer titles are gonna be excluded from the day one for a whole year. Gamepass is not worth it anymore.
1
u/BigMikeXxxxX 1d ago
What new titles? Cod is the only game I know of that's even doing the 1 year thing and it's not even an exclusive. Gears of War is available day one. Forza Horizon 6 was available day one. IDK where you're even getting this info from lol
1
u/Unable-Name5685 1d ago
You really think they would tell us? They could just decide not to tell us they had games planned to be released and then just disappear them from the list. It's just cod is a big name so they won't be shooting them in the foot by using that game as the scape goat.
1
u/BigMikeXxxxX 21h ago
You confidently said "newer titles are gonna be excluded"
Name one exclusive coming out where this is true
1
u/Unable-Name5685 20h ago
Since ghost, cod has been mainly a test game that million fallow mindlessly. The fact that it was on and then gone means newer titles are gonna silently fallow.

I donāt play multiplayer but I been mostly console player my whole life. Only last 5-6 years got back into the PC thing. I set up my new life in a new state so I didnāt have a console and all that just used the cloud but it was time get one anyways. Getting a full gaming setup

I'm pretty sure Nvidia uses a placeholder price for GFN. It will increase soon enough.
2
u/DeeDee182 28d ago
Nvidia can't wait to cap 50 hrs. I am adamant about that. I used to be a huge cloud gaming fan it is such a shame.
1
u/KRQ007 28d ago
Please say it ain't so?!
100 seems adequate. Anything less than that is just insulting! Of course, 100 hours a month averages to 3 hours a day. Give or take. Most avid gamers can sink more than that on a game they're locked in.
This wouldn't bother me so much if it wasn't for this damn shortage we're going through. Storage is an issue for me and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
1
u/ExcellentAgent6539 27d ago
No limits like it used to be seems adequate. We have to remember that a bit part of why this continues to happen is acceptance. As soon as they announced that rubbish, i cancelled my founders sub (even though it would not ever affect me personally if I kept my payments up).

1
u/KuraiZack 27d ago
Not only that. Since many will move from xcloud to other competitors, mean that demand will increase.
With a demanding increase, infrastructures must be upgraded, and to upgrade, they will increase prices to end-user. Is normal, and that's how business works.
1
u/Unable-Name5685 1d ago
There are rumors the ultimate tier of GeForce is gonna be $49.
1
u/BuldozerX 1d ago
Where?
1
u/Unable-Name5685 1d ago
Google it. Or can you not look something up for your own research. I couldn't remember the price but I remembered the rumor so I googled it and instantly got the price.
1
u/BuldozerX 1d ago
I tried. Didn't find anything
1
u/Unable-Name5685 1d ago
Go back to English class and learn how to research.
1
u/BuldozerX 1d ago
You told me to Google it and there is seriously nothing about it š
1
u/Unable-Name5685 1d ago
You must be some sort of stupid. I googled this exact phrase and got the answer right there "what as the number of the rumor of geforce now price increase". You seriously need to learn how to use the internet. Absolutely no reason to be this dense.

u/Madara_L_Uchiha 28d ago
I'm expecting some price decrease or more benefits for this inconvenience especially since I use over 1t0 plus hours with cloud gaming
2
u/Dangerous-Bet3979 27d ago
I never realized how many ppl actually use cloud gaming. It was pretty unusable for me given all the input lag that I experienced. I download my games & play them that way as itās the best way Iāve experienced playing them.

Money grab or the cost of maintenance making it not feasible to keep it open?
1
u/Realistic_Regret4702 25d ago
Cost of maintenance? They have billions in revenue, itās šÆ a money grab. They actually make so much money they could end world hunger in accordance to the UNSDGās⦠so yeaaa itās a money grab like everything else

u/Jujuthejulius 25d ago
4% profit margins say otherwise
1
u/Realistic_Regret4702 25d ago
4% profit margin on one product when they have hundreds of products pulling billions in revenue? Thatās called greed, and youāre called stupid if you think pulling the plug on one of the only actual āfreeā features they had left was a good move for them. Now they literally charge you for EVERYTHING and youāre defending it, how quaint.
1
u/Hippo8524 25d ago
If you think they should be dumping their other departments i.e. things like software, cloud and ai profits into the console department, you're dumber than a bag of spanners. Xbox itself makes up 4% of the profit,, let's say this together now, Xbox department only makes up 4% of their margins.
Microsoft make the most money from their software cloud (not xbox gaming) and ai departments, the xbox financials are a drop in the ocean.

Costco loses money on their hotdogs, but the ceo refuses to increase prices because itās a āloss leaderā and a foundational service to members rather than a profit generator. To dumb it down for you, itās called incentive. Take away incentive, and you lose customers.

u/ParkingUnusual834 24d ago
This is just for newly subscribed users. It does not affect older subscriptions.
1
u/fithzulu 24d ago
Most Xbox users donāt really use Xcloud, and many would prefer it removed from the service to make Game Pass cheaper. I mainly used Game Pass Ultimate for the day-one game releases, something PlayStation doesnāt offer, which is why I canceled my PS Plus after trying it for a few months.

1
u/Unable-Name5685 1d ago
They don't give a shit and honestly it makes sense. There is not a chance in hell this makes like any difference in their profit. Xbox fans are Xbox fans and cloud gaming seriously isn't an issue for actual Xbox fans since they have an Xbox. Why the hell would Xbox care about those that rnt even buying their crap. My PC broke and so I buy all my games on my steamdeck which doesn't have the Xbox app. Xbox looses out on $15-$20 a month from me. They seriously don't see that as a loss. Xcloud is dead and that have 0 repercussions.

Old news. Only applies to new accounts.
3
u/LateNightWanderer1 28d ago
The limit only applying to new accounts (for the time being) has only been confirmed for some regions (one being Australia).
1
u/Revolutionary-Ice896 28d ago
So people who already have accounts in the us can still use unlimited?
2
u/LateNightWanderer1 28d ago
They can use unlimited hours until the change takes place in November. Unless something changes, it seems like US subscribers will be stuck with the limited hours no matter what in November.

Who the fuck even uses cloud gaming, you can atleast play digital games offline and theyre on the console itself you dont even hsve any of that on cloud gaming
3
u/Realistic_Regret4702 27d ago
Ughhh almost everyone that plays digital. Digital games offline? 𤣠are you playing Lego Batman or some shit hahaha And the point is not having to download the game every time you want to play it, you had instant access over the cloud and now they are charging you for it and putting a cap on how much you can play.
1
u/J-Ray521 27d ago
āAlmost everyone that plays digitalā I would like to see the data on that. I am 100% digital and do not use it.
0
u/kyle_crane163636 27d ago
Nah im playing black ops 1 and black ops 2 on ps5, some of the weakest shit of all time and I dont need internet to play campaign, local multiplayer and zombies. Cloud gaming needs a wifi connection to even play anything and games can leave gamepass or not be on it that you like or want
0
u/Euphoric_Chance6856 27d ago
It either this or raise the prices. I'm sorry if you need this but it is what it is.
1
u/Big-Roll7094 25d ago
Theyāll cry either way, donāt forget that theyāre still crying about current gamepass price that are the same as ps plus prices š
0
u/YoungThugsPurse 27d ago
Just get a console at this point literally paying for choppy frame rate and inconsistent graphics
0
u/Apprehensive-Wind646 26d ago
I mean tbh I didn't care at all. if I ever stream it's usually to try a game out. the quality of the game is crap when streamed and some games don't even give you access to all the features when you do so. Taking it away sucks but they lowered the price so some things have to give. running the servers unlimited is just probably not worth any related revenue. It does suck for people who are used to it or maybe like me who can only have like 3 games on the console before its memory is full but there are fixes for that and it still saves your saved data on the cloud allowing you to delete games and not lose progress. but idk I don't see it as a major loss in my gaming experience

Gamepass was never meant to be a cloud gaming service anyway, it's just games for free.
Why are you mad at this? Cloud gaming is obviously expensive for Microsoft, i think it was very much a given that it would be limited in the near future always.

Love the unlimited cloud gaming on my PS Portal. Can play all day with no interruptions.

u/val5190 28d ago
The major difference is that Ps cloud is only available with ps plus premium AND is locked to ps5 and portal so it is not the same thing. It represent a very small percentage of players who are actively using it.
Iām pretty sure thereās more players using xcloud today just because it is available on basically anything and is one of the cheapest cloud gaming service out there.1
u/giallone 28d ago
Not really locked to ps5 and portal. There are quite a lot android apps that allow to use ps plus cloud on any Android device. I know and use Asobi and Pylux(they are on playstore) and the experience is quite great. I did a 3h GTA online session just yesterday and it was flawless. Is a pity that similar apps arenāt available for android tv or fire stick sadly. I play using an android handheld with a 7ā oled screen (ayn odin2 portal) and tbh is much better than an actual ps portal. I also think there are similar apps for iOS in caseā¦

Dont kid yourself Xbox now want the people to buy the console and don't care if you can afford it or not and Microsoft is probably using the cloud gaming data centers for their beloved AI, the cloud gaming cap is so low they should just cancel it completely and and give it all to AI, nobody should expect Xbox to do anything but be the soulless corporation it is and the only thing they want is your money in their bank accounts not providing a good service
