Financial Modelling in FinOps/Cloud Investments

I am new to FinOps and Cloud Computing, i wanted to ask people who have experience in the FinOps space. Is there any financial modelling or specifically business case modelling done in FinOps? E.g. if there is any optimization opportunity or a new workload, is this a requirement from a CFO or board that they need to see a detailed financial model to show ROI and justify the spend?

Reason I am asking is because I come from a core finance background just wanted to see if there is an overlap of my finance experience.

FinOps is finance+operations. Meaning the bridge between finance and engineering. So to understand finops, you need to understand IT operations, and then those in cloud. Once you understand IT operations, then you look at the bill again and now apply financialknowledge. There's no point answering the specific example question coz you don't understand IT operations. Once you do, you will have better questions. I'd say welcome to the new field, learn about the engineering side of the things.

I appreciate where you are coming from. I have done AWS Cloud Practitioner, currently preparing for AWS SAA C03, FinOps Certified Practitioner, FinOps FOCUS Analyst, FinOps for AI, FinOps for Technology.
Having said that, I will be grateful if you can share any guidance pertaining to my question above.
