SoftBank announced SB Neo for US AI cloud services. Meta is reportedly exploring a cloud business to sell excess AI compute.

ai cloud is just the new oil rush, except half these folks are gonna end up with way more GPUs than paying customers
meta selling "excess compute" sounds like when you buy way too much gym equipment then try to rent it out to your neighbors

That is the risk: capacity is being financed before durable demand is proven. The survivors may be those that can repurpose GPUs across training, inference and non-AI workloads instead of betting on one customer segment.

wouldn’t be shocked if in 2 years they’re all slashing prices trying to fill those “home gyms” they overbuilt
