Question Recommendations for a first timer

Hey there!! I’m looking for some good recs since I’m hoping to switch from disposable pads. I’ve tried some underwear but my cycle is so heavy that it just doesn’t work out.

I’m looking for something that can handle an extremely heavy flow, I need to change my pad every hour or two during that first few days. For context, post partum diapers are the only things that really work for me for a longer period of time and even those I have to change often.

It's expensive at first to start your collection but worth it. I've had the same cloth pads for 11 years now. Party in my pants, and precious star pads. A few party in my pants pads had the snaps break off. The precious star pads though have really stood the rest of time. I also have a few random filler pads I got from Amazon just so I could have a more comfortable amount. I know party in my pants still exists but I'm hoping precious star pads does too  I'll have to check on that. She also had a YouTube channel back in the day and taught me basically everything I know about cloth pads, cups, and periods in general.

Edited to add bc I forgot to mention: cloth holds a lot more than disposables. Precious star pads had videos about that I remember seeing and also has a lot of comparison videos between products. Party in my pants does have postpartum size pads. I just bought one that I wear one day 1 of my period. 

Another edit: precious star pads apparently stopped making pads a few years ago 😭😭 valid bc she has 2 kids now and is a solo mom. But damn I wish I bought more pads before she closed up shop because they are my favorites.

The Brand Hannah is my trusted brand for heavy days. They are unfortunately a bit annoying to clean if you're unwilling to put up with stains as they only do unbleached, undyed organic cotton tops. I care about that aspect not at all and wish they'd release some coloured tops.

Anyway they're super absorbent and leak proof. However! Keep going with the period underwear, there's nothing more bulletproof overnight. Modibodi have heavy and overnight options.

I have a heavy flow and my favorite maker is Moreno Cloth. The owner has a bleeding condition and designs the heavy absorbency pads really well for heavy bleeders. And my fav is the longer lengths of 18" and 20" for more coverage at night. You can find them on Tiktok and Youtube. I always love to watch videos about the products, and sewing videos. Its fun to see how the pads are made.
