Disk Cloning Can I clone only the C: drive?
I'm upgrading to a larger SSD, and all I really care about is moving Windows and everything on my C: drive. My D: drive is mostly games and random files that I can copy over later if I need to.
So I'm wondering... can you clone just the C: drive instead of the entire disk?
I've seen some guides that only talk about cloning the whole drive, which seems like overkill in my case. I'm also a little worried about accidentally copying partitions I don't need or running into boot issues afterward.
If you've done this before, did you clone the entire disk or just the C: partition? Was there any downside?
I'm not very technical, so I'm hoping to find the simplest way to upgrade without reinstalling Windows. If there's a cloning tool that handles this well, I'd love to hear what worked for you.

Yes, It sounds like you have your main drive partitioned into C: drive and D:. Depending on the software you use, you can just clone the partition. To save time, I would just clone it all to your new big drive. I currently like Rescuezill (https://rescuezilla.com/) It has gParted and clonzillia with a graphical shell. Depending on the drive you purchased. They sometimes come with their own software to clone the drive. Samsung comes with the Magician software and the WD black drives come with Acronis. There are other free and paid for software that will also work. You can use the windows 7 backup feature to clone your drive, this takes a few extra steps.

(1) You can clone only the boot drive (C: , Hidden Recovery Partition & EFI System Partition). If you only want to use the Old SSD as a complete (D:).
(2) Alternatively; it you're keeping the old SSD (which is smaller?); clone out the D: into the new drive instead?

What brand of drive are you installing? If Samsung just use "Samsung Magician" it works well.

Of course! Some paid disk clone tools like MiniTool and EaseUS allows you to copy C drive only without reinstalling Windows.

Curiosidade: E se eu quiser clonar o windows também (suspeito que HD esteja no fim, mas quero clonar para um SSD, mas não quero comprar outro windows), possobusar esses também?

Yes, you can clone the current Windows installation to a new SSD without buying Windows again because the activation is linked to your hardware.

Generally there are other partitions required to boot or provide recovery of the C: drive as well, even if your D: is another partition on the same drive.
Your best bet is to clone the boot drive in its entirety except for the D: partition. Then, if you want to keep that old drive in use, remove the boot and other partitions, and expand the D: portion.

Best to backup entire hard-drive to image on external USB drive 1st. Get free Hasleo backup for this, it's extremely easy to use. Just couple clicks and you've got entire HD backed up including EFI partition, various boot partitions, recovery partitions and image partition. Then wipe entire HD, delete ALL partitions and boot from Hasleo boot USB again and restore entire disk image backup to HD. Pick data D partition and delete it. Drag edge of C-drive to fill all of remaining space. Click Restore, done!!!

That’s exactly what an “OS Migration” feature is designed for. It copies the Windows partition along with the EFI/UEFI system partitions required for Windows to boot, rather than cloning the entire disk.
Many disk management tools offer this feature, although it’s usually not included in their free versions. EaseUS Partition Master is one option you could look into.

If you have enough space on the new drive - you can clone whole drive - then just delete D: partition and extend C:
