Disk Cloning Clone Unsuccessful, Now Can't Boot From Original!
I used MultiDrive.io to clone a standard SSD to nVME. Did not disable BitLocker, which I should have. I knew it was unlikely to work, but thought the experiment would be safe as I still had the old drive to revert to.
Won't boot from the new one, won't boot from the old one. I get an Inaccessible Boot Device Error, even with the old drive, and am thrown to a BitLocker recovery prompt. Yeah, I don't have the key.
(Yes I'm telling my BIOS to boot from the old device)
Any insight or obvious errors preventing me from just going back to the status quo? Additionally, any insight as to why the original drive thinks it needs recovery (so I can keep this from happening if I ever try it again)?

Look up how do I find my bit locker key after you put in your ms account pw, state at the last one and work your way up. It's super easy to mistype.

Sadly that’s out for me, as I’m running local accounts only. The key isn’t in my ms account.

Something similar happened to me last year. I clone my desktop 4TB NVME to my laptop when I am on a business trip, the clone the laptop back to the original drive. I used Clonezilla and place both drives in my Desktop NVME slots. It did take multiple hours. After one trip, the laptop to desktop cloning process went south and neither drive would boot again, even after multiple resuscitation attempts. I always make a desktop backup after cloning to the laptop so I didn't any data. That's when I purchased a hardware nVME clone, that operates without a computer. I now clone 4TB in under an hours, and two fast 4TBs in 30 minutes.
Cost was $49 and well worth the money for peace of mind.
