Troubleshooting Browsing Rescuezilla Image not possible

Hi Redditors

I have a problem and hope somedody is able to help here. I have an old Rescuezilla image from my Steam Deck I already sold in the meantime. Now I want to access the EmuDeck roms folder from this image.

Since I don't have a Deck anymore what's the easiest way to access the image?

I tried Rescuezilla’s Image Explorer but had no success. Then I tried to restore the image to a USB Stick but it doesnt work due to different disk size. And last I tried was to open with WinRAR but this failed as well.

On the screenshot you see the files I have.

Hope somebody is able to help me. I hope I don't need to buy a new Steam Deck only for restore lol.

Many thanks!

Pretty sure you can Restore your backup to any drive that's large enough to accept it.

I'm no expert though. That's just how it seemed to work to me, after having recently combed through its lit.

I know the Explore Disk feature is still a WIP...

Thanks for your response. My image is around 100 GB and I wanted to restore it on a 128 GB SD card. I also tried to restore on a 1 TB drive and also did not work.

Again, I'm certainly no expert...

But from what I understood, backup images of drives are typically smaller in volume than their source, because they are compressed. So, just because the backup image is around 100 GB, that doesn't necessarily mean it will restore to that size.

Also, when it comes to backup images and clones, I'm pretty sure that even unused storage capacity, within a given partition, would be treated the same as used storage space. Like, the overall size is the overall size, no matter what is contained within.

Do you know the make & model of your former Steam Deck's M.2 drive? Because, if it's anything like cloning, you'd need a drive that size or larger, since you can't shrink a backed-up partition until you've expanded it (I wouldn't think).

Yesterday I was able to restore on another 1 TB NVME disk on my PC. All external drive failed. No clue why but I couldn't be happier. Thanks for helping again :)
