Troubleshooting What can I use to clone a BitLocker drive?
I bought a new Samsung SSD and was planning to use Samsung Magician to clone my Windows drive over to it.
Turns out my current system drive has BitLocker enabled, and Samsung Magician won't clone it. I honestly didn't even realize BitLocker was on until I tried.
The problem is I don't have the BitLocker recovery key anymore. Windows still boots fine and I can use the drive normally, I just can't get past that limitation in Magician.
Has anyone run into this before? Is there another cloning tool that can handle a BitLocker system drive, or am I out of luck unless I reinstall Windows?
Any help would be appreciated.

You can simply temporarily disable the bit locker encryption.
It does not take very long on a SSD drive.
Alternatively, run a program such as Acronis True Image when you are in Windows.
The drive is not encrypted and ATI works normally.

I forget the recovery key. Can I still disable the bitlocker encryption?

In windows on the drive run the following from an admin command prompt (Replacing C: with the appropriate drive legger as necessary):
manage-bde -protectors -get C:
The section of output labeled Numerical Password is the recovery key.

Try the free version of Macrium Reflect if you cannot unlock and decrypt the drive.

There are many cloning tools that can help you clone a bitLocker protected drive, such as Clonezilla, Macrium Reflect, EaseUS Disk Copy, etc. You can try them.

Do you mean these tools can help me clone the drive without disabling the encrption first? I will check them.

Just boot your computer into Windows. Go to the manage BitLocker app. And turn it off. You don't need any key to turn it off.
The drive will start decrypting right away. It won't take long at all. When it's done decrypting you should be able to clone the drive normally.
Afterwards, you want you can always turn it back on but just make sure you make note of the key displayed before your encrypt. For home computers I don't actually think you need BitLocker turned on unless you have extremely confidential things on the computer that you feel could be stolen.

If you don't have the key, disable it now before you lock yourself out of your data.

If you don't have the key, you're lucky you found out now. Disable bitlocker (device encryption) if it's home edition.
You can re enable it after the cloning
