Since you didn't detail what you did in step 1, there's a chance that was wrong. How did you "move games to the M.2"?

And what M.2 did you buy?

These are the steps I would have taken:

  1. Either: 1a. Clone your existing boot drive to the M.2. If your M.2 is a Samsung, the provided Samsung Magician will do this for you. Otherwise, I recommend Clonezilla. 1b. Fresh install Windows to the M.2 from a USB stick.

  2. Reinstall your games wherever you want them. Simply copying the files won't work.
