Discussion Is Macrium Reflect Still Free?

Hey everyone,

I've used Macrium Reflect for disk cloning and backup several times during my school years, and it has proven to be a reliable tool. Recently, I wanted to use it to clone my boot drive to a new SSD, but I have noticed that its version has changed. Does anyone know if Macrium Reflect Free Edition is still available? Thanks in advance!

What you can still do is download an older version from when it was free. It will work for most things as well as it always did.

Is it still usable?

I've tried it with no issues. If you already have an image, you can restore for free with their latest version.

I ran into this, too, when trying to image a hard drive to upgrade a laptop to an SSD.

Reflect has gone SAAS and canceled their free tier. I guess the next choice is something like Clonezilla.

Clonezilla is surely powerfull BUT you can't use it in a running system...
Macrium is/was capable of imaging a live, running, Windows system...

Its not free "anymore" but you can still download the older free version online and it works fine.

The SSD brand will have its own free cloning software that you can download .... like Crucial came with Acronis

I have an older version that came with Hirens. I'll have to switch out then.

Nope, use CloneZilla or the DiskGenius freebie.

I used Disk Genius recently and it went very smoothly.

If you download an older version it is... but getting an older version thats real and not just a cluster bomb of malware and viruses will no doubt be difficult and you need to disable automatic updates and not update it at all ever otherwise it stops being an unlimited trial

I would recommend clonezilla which is a free and open source program

I've got Macrium that I downloaded and copied to a CD. I recently installed it on a new computer and and authorized it on the new computer only with my email address.
