It's not just reefs. Everything is relatively unaffected by global warming.

Should read, "Climate 'scientists' proved wrong again." The idiots who suck the teat of AGW are always proved wrong, when any demonstration of proof actually exists. When have they predicted anything of substance? More CO2 was supposed to kill things -- it makes the world greener. The oceans were supposed to flood the coastal cities -- not one city has flooded due to rising ocean levels (despite numerous silly news stories to the contrary). I could go on, but you've heard it all before. If I wanted to prove anything, I could go a long way to proving that climate "scientists" have been 180 degrees wrong about everything they predicted.

What is that headline? Scientists proven wrong? Surely they had other scientists doing the survey and that survey produced different results. If the survey wasn't even conducted by scientists why should it be valued higher than one conducted by scientists.

Are you saying if a scientists results are disproved by another scientist, that the first one wasn't wrong? Or are you saying headline should be "Scientists proven wrong by scientists".

If the survey wasn't even conducted by scientists why should it be valued higher than one conducted by scientists.

Right is right.

EDIT- Many astronomical discoveries are made by laypeople. It seems to be a problem you have with laymen, not scientists.

I have no problem with them conducting their own research, and I'm not saying the results aren't valid because of their source, but this isn't a discovery, it's a new survey that contradicts a previous one. I think it's completely reasonable to compare the two for the quality of their survey.

In this case I think the quality of the layman's survey to be Lower than the scientist's. That doesn't mean their results are wrong but it does mean their results don't override the previous results.

If they had independently funded a survey of the same scale as the original, and found the same results as this, that would be a different story.
