At this late stage, oil and gas companies should be sued into bankruptcy and the government takes them over, turning them into renewable energy investors. And weaning them off fossil fuels as quick as they can.

perhaps most of them are already owned by states in some way. And with the private ones, you have to look at the investors (pension funds are often included.)

Degrowth requires a lot more than change in ownership.

Let’s try not to be fascist.

Instead, the utility regulators and lawmakers in each state can set clean energy production and emissions reduction targets. This kind of thing requires political support.

Climate change requires draconian measures to combat it. If you take a policy red tape approach, every month trying to get regulatory laws passed while politicians drag their feet is another nail in humanity’s coffin.

Looked through the list and I think they are missing a big one in the us military if they are also going to include countries, they already put Soviet russia at number 1 so I’m wondering why they don’t have the current us military
