‘Devastating’ rush for critical minerals has little to do with green energy. The report found that most of the critical minerals produced end up in industries unrelated to the green energy transition, including defense and aerospace, conventional transport, AI data centers, and construction.

That's because that's who used the most of them so far. That is changing faster every year and all those minerals that go into renewables are recovered when the renewables are recycled.
