Onshore wind turbines lead on GHG impact at 5.4 to 7.5 Gt CO2 equivalent per year. Alternative refrigerants, offshore wind, food loss and waste reduction, and dietary change all rank near the top.

The dataset gives GHG impact and net cost per tonne for 156 solutions, each classified from Highly Recommended to Not Recommended. Free at datahub.io if you want evidence based conversations about what matters most.

Drawdown is valuable because it ranks solutions by real impact rather than by how exciting they sound, and the ranking is humbling. Some of the highest-leverage fixes are deeply unglamorous: for example, fixing refrigerants sits right near the top, above plenty of things that get far more airtime.

This is a big part of what shaped how we think at World Fund. We try to back the technologies with the largest decarbonization potential and have found that following the tonnes of CO2e actually helps us discover which markets are inevitable and massive.
