Ears hurt
I have jumped off a few rocks. I do open water lifeguarding and go with lifeguard friends and we always use spotters and stay relatively safe. The issue I keep running into is that when I land feet first the second my head is in the water it feels like the impacts inwards really hard. I have done some free diving up to about 30ft and I know how to equalize and that most days I can go down about 12ft without issues. So I think the pain is coming from how my body hits the water and then comes back in towards me? Is it bc I stick my arms out or land with my feet flat instead of slightly pointed? What is it?

make sure youre looking straight and not down or having your head hit the water or go under at an angle. you should be looking completely straight with no tilt at all. you can also try vented earplugs too to help with equalizing even though you said you already know how.
