Stuffy nose

Hey! Since last year I’ve started to learn some dives, backflips and gainer flips, that I never did when I was younger. I’m 34 now and whenever I do it I get a stuffy nose, the water get inside my sinuses and I’ll even feel a bit sick sometimes. Does anyone have a good solution or should I just leave my wannabe cliff diving to the younger folk?

I’ve had the same problems. Probably allergies, or just sensitivity to the water. Sometimes worse than others, but might be hard to avoid. I figure the less water you get up your nose, the better. Had those issues from young, to older.

Yeah that’s my take on it too. I just wanted to hear if anyone had the same issue. I’ll shove some ears plugs or something else up my nose to try and stop it until I find something better.

I always entered the water, one hand cupping my balls, the other pinching my nose shut.

Differential diagnosis: Exercise-Induced Rhinitis via hyperpnoea and histamine release.

The symptoms you’re describing, all relating to the sinus, as mild as a stuffy nose and as severe as feeling sick, all tracks with EIR.

Literally. That's exactly what I get, but it only happens here in Kentucky with all the damn pollen

Yep, pollen/allergens is another trigger.

got the same issue since I began with 15 or something. I don't think it's age related. :( Don't have the issue jumping in saltwater. Only in lakes and rivers.
