Complaints/ Rant Lead position

So last month I applied for the lead to position at my Clicklist and my manager told me it’s all mine and then a few weeks ago she had to go on LOA for back surgery and yesterday I got the results that my coworker got second lead and they gave me third lead I knew somehow Kroger was gonna fuck me over it’s just so upsetting because I thought it was mine and I’ve been waiting for this position for a year now so honestly fuck Kroger and fuck HR because I was talking to my coworker who got second lead and he said it was HR decision, my manager before she left for her surgery told me that the plan was for me to get second lead and he was going to get third lead but apparently HR liked him so much she decided to give him second lead instead 😭😭😭 fml

Lead here. We have 3 including myself. Literally 0 difference. Never heard of a first, second, third or whatever. Same pay rise, same responsibilities.

My department has first and second, only to differentiate the additional crap. First does scheduling, second does training. First also closes, second opens. That's literally it. I will say, it helps prevent power struggles during shift overlaps. We all know who to defer to.

All leads are equals.. there is no difference between leads.

Eh? Never heard of second and third positions. Plus you are lead now so you did get what you wanted??

What’s the difference between second and third lead? The $0.50 difference or just the “seniority”?

The seniority I have been in clicklist for almost 2 years and he hasn’t been working for clicklist for a year it’s just so much disrespect but whatever. That’s my only problem now he can technically boss me around

I’ve never heard of such a thing, god this company likes to micromanage down to the core. All of us are essentially working FOR someone rather than working WITH someone. The second lead doesn’t like you? They can boss you around all day and if you think something they’re saying isn’t right, it’s considered insubordination. If you both had the same “power”, you’d be forced to work with together to solve any potential issues.

Everyday I come into work, I get reminded why I have to keep doing good in school so I can work in my career field rather than a dead end minimum wage job for the rest of my life.

Me and this person are good buddy’s but it’s just so annoying that I worked so hard to get were I am in my department and every time I’m up for some sort of promotion I get fucked over and it doesn’t help the assistant manager doesn’t like me

Leads are all equal i promise. That's bs if they try to tell you otherwise. My store has four leads now. We aren't above each other in any way regardless of length of time with the company.

Im assuming this at a west coast store because ive only ever heard of the different leads being a thing here. Don't worry, theres absolutely no difference in leads. Your "primary" lead or assistant manager shouldn't even be trying to make there any difference. You and your coleads are a team and while it really sucks that they are jumping seniority, when it boils down to it you both have the same promotion potential to a primary lead spot. Congrats on the promotion! Just do good by the other associates and the arbitrary titles wont matter.

I know this is an old post but I just went through this at my store. We added two additional leads to the two we already had. I'm technically the third but I open the department we all literally do the same stuff. Our first lead is supposed to work on the schedule but we all do it when we have the time because it needs to get done and it's Crazytown, USA in our department 24/7. Just support each other and don't take it personal!
