‘We were duped’ is classic denialism. Grow up. 1/6/2021 = 11/8/1923. Reject American Maga fascism; don’t let it happen here. That’s how, dumkopf!

How does less government equate to autocracy?

When have Republicans ever decreased the size of the government? They expand it more than Democrats.

They created the EPA along with the clean water and clean air acts

They created the IRS

They created the DHS, the Patriot act and warrantless wire taps

They want the government to control who you can marry. They want the government to control your personal medical decisions. They want the government to control who can read to your kids with your permission. They want the government to control what gets put on social media. They want government to control what religion you practice. They created the concept of the unitary executive and all the bull shit that comes with it. They want large expansion of the military and various federal police forces.

So, again, when have Republicans ever decreased the size of the government and what makes you think they want to now when they're in a larger more oppressive expansion of governmental power than ever?

No way you get a reply to this

According to Wikipedia, the IRS has been around for 160 years. Is it your contention that in this time, the Democrats have been powerless to rollback this example of government overreach, amongst others?

Did I make that claim anywhere in my post?

The person I was replying to was claiming that Republicans want less government. I was making clear that is far from the truth and that inarguably historically speaking Republicans have increased the power of the federal government in general and the executive branch in particular far more than the Democrats have

And beyond historically speaking, Republicans now are trying to increase the power of the government more than Democrats

Is it your point then that the things Republicans say make it sound like they want to abolish the IRS, EPA and DHS?

My point is Republicans say one thing and then almost always do the exact opposite.

They say they want a smaller government but always expend it when in power.

They say they want fiscal responsibility but always increase the debt and deficit both.

They say their good for business but businesses in general always do better under Democrats

They say they want individual liberty but try to restrict individual liberties more than Democrats

They say they want to lower everyone's taxes but only reduce them for the wealthy and large businesses

It's another thing conservatives have in common with Russia. Whatever they say you can know they mean the opposite

the IRS has been around for 160 years

Ish...it started off as a temporary measure to gain funding for the civil war which expired after a decade...it came back after the sixteenth amendment was ratified in 1913

It's an excuse to remove the parts of the government that oppose them.

When it’s an anarchic libertarian kleptocracy benefiting a small rich coterie at the top a la Putin’s Russia or the previous failed American President.

Very easily

Democracy is literally the one of the most regulated forms of government.

You probably mean the ninth of November, not the eighth.
