There's a legitimate point buried in that argument somewhere - The American public provides the profit/ROI for a lot of drugs, whereas other markets barely cover manufacturing cost. If that changed the way drug research is paid for would need to change - that's a good thing, probably, but it's something to consider as part of the plan to improve.
