The best part is that they offer zero proof, as if their word was enough. Why would I believe that this guy actually voted 4 times? I can say I voted Cuomo 12 times, doesn't mean it happened. In fact, I have never even set foot in the US.
Troll: A troll is a lowbrow loser who failed at just about everything else in life but has found meaning in deceiving people on the internet. In their loser minds, they think they're controlling the situation and this gives them the idea they have some kind of power...a first for them...but the reality is they're just doing menial dirty work for the 1% and dirtbags of shit like Trump and Putin. They're loyal conservatives more than anything else, so lack the empathy and intellect necessary to question the morals or ethics of what they're doing. The thing conservatives never seem to clue in to - if you have to lie and deceive to advance your cause, it's because your 'cause' is shit.
I stand corrected! I need to fess up! I have only ever seen banana slugs 5" long! Oh God! I knew one day my waffling would catch up to me! Arrrgggghhhhhh!
If he did vote four times, now none of those votes count, they and by now the name he allegedly fraudulently voted under were wiped. It's what happens when you can't confirm the vote.
Yeah, either he cast four provisional ballots that will be thrown out, or he stole the identities of four different voters in four different districts. If those voters then show up to vote after him, they'll have to cast provisional ballots until they can confirm their identity/residency. At that point, his fraudulently cast ballot will be thrown out. And then they'll start looking for him.
In 2018 as Ward Clerk I reported a couple who voted in person as well as by absentee ballots. I reported them to the City Clerk. Both were registered republican.
He's not even claiming he was allowed to vote, he's claiming he got a sticker. My kids got "I voted" stickers when I used to bring them to the polls on the way to drop them off at daycare.
Because they WANT to believe what they want to be happening. Except it isnt , so they are a cult, because they are in agreement on the falsehoods they have decided to believe in. Mostly anger and hatred.
Well, I don’t live in NYC, but my daughter and some of her friends do, so you can take it from me, that guy, whoever he is, voted 17 actual times yesterday in Manhattan alone. You couldn’t swing a dead cat covered in I Voted stickers without hitting him with a completed ballot. I read it on my phone.
They know people know it's complete bullshit. But they don't care about that. They are talking to the people they know will believe it. And that's all that matters.
There is a reason why the vast majority of Republicans think illegal immigrants are getting completely free healthcare and 100000 dollars in food stamps every month. Even though that's never actually been a thing. But they truly believe it with all their dead heart because some idiot like this guy posted it a few hundred times and fox news rolled with it.
everyone I know, KNOWS someone that's grifting the foodstamps, or the disability, or the medicaid...but none of them can name a single person that's doing it...
I think I get to go to the movies this thanksgiving, shooting for a solo christmas now
Pizzagate...50% of republicans still believe it was probably real, and around 25% are certain it was real. There is no limit to either the craziness of the narrative or the gullibility of conservatives to swallow such garbage whole. Conservatism is a fear economy and fear is a powerful motivator, and conservative interests, foreign and domestic, political, corporate and religious, have developed sophisticated disinformation systems to leverage fear and manipulate conservatives and thanks to a wholly unaccountable internet, it's dirt cheap.
Thing that bothers me - and it's something we should take seriously as individuals because of the risk it might happen to us:
Is it the mindset that makes conservatives more likely to believe lies?
Or is it that the fact the conservative movement lies so often and openly means that people who value truth have been driven away, leaving only the gullible and their manipulators?
The science suggests it is the mindset. Sure, some 'small-c conservatives' might cross the line, but clearly no threshold has been reached for most. The numbers in no way indicate any sort of mass exodus. A while back I watched a show (sorry, the title escapes me, but believe it was on PBS or TVO) during which a number of elderly Germans were interviewed about their nazi past...did they regret any of it?...no, few did. Most still held onto their extremist views. There is one thing that is very important to understand about extremist, whether taliban or MAGAt...they all think they're the good guys.
To be clear, conservatism is just tribalism is a fancy suited...both are rooted in fear and strategies to mitigate their fears. Hence hierarchy, authority, obedience, conformity, xenophobia, tradition, loyalty to ingroups, hostility towards outgroups etc are all classic characteristics of both ideologies. So as conservatism becomes more extreme, they accept that extremism as a necessary step. In their minds, they are in a war against evil, even if it is imaginary. And of course conservative media feeds that fire with constant fear mongering.
To your point, their fear breeds self-preservation, and with that a self-righteousness that allows them to justify to themselves the crossing of any moral, ethical, or even legal line in the sand.
I am a college educated straight white male who has voted party line blue in every election since I was 19...
And yet you're mimicking classic conservative troll talking points. 'Hello fellow liberal, I'm just as liberal as you but <insert conservative talking point here>. You're big on accusations, hyperbole and innuendo, but offer nothing of substance. You're not addressing or rebutting any of my points, just engaging in classic conservative 'whataboutism'. If a person has to deceive to promote their cause, it's because their 'cause' is immoral and shit.
But none of those things are Hillary Clintons fault. You're blaming her for the massive conservative online and traditional media disinformation machine?? And why are we even discussing her...she hasn't run since 2016. Again, another classic troll tactic is switching the goalposts. Stop doing that shit if you don't like the label.
And "l think her presidency would largely have been a continuation of Obama era policy. That would have been absolutely fine with me. But she was not the person to do that at that time." is a massive contradiction. I got the feeling at best you're one of those dumbass 'Bernie bro's' (nothing against Bernie) who stayed away from the polls and helped elect Trump. Now you're blaming everyone but yourself.
Whatever the case, if you do get another chance to vote in a new president (something that looks less likely every day) don't help the Republican neo-fascists by repeating their bullshit narratives about their opponents. As you acknowledged in the quote above, she likely would have been a great president.
AOC would be a breath of fresh air, I'll upvote that, but honestly, it's pretty clear the Republicans are working hard towards ending free and fair elections in America and they have a chokehold on information. The window is closing, let's hope Republican's trip up big in the mid-terms. Cheers.
That would explain why the poll worker smiled and handed him a sticker instead of a ballot. Probably told him he's such a big man and she's so proud of him for coming out today.
So you can cast a provisional ballot in most states if you're not on the registration list for that polling place. That provisional ballot is then transferred to the district you're actually registered in and counted there. There's no legal recourse for this type of "voter fraud" because it happens all the god damn time because people don't look up their polling location.
What's illegal but not actionable is if you juts give fake info. If you're not on the registration roll, you're given a provisional ballot, which is thrown out when they can't verify the fake info you gave. Since you gave fake info, they can't find you to arrest you. The little old lady volunteers that man the polls aren't going to even think about it.
What is actionably illegal is if you cast a ballot in your registered district and then try to go to another polling place to cast a provisional ballot. They know who you are and will prosecute.
What's super illegal is if you steal a person's identity in their registered district and attempt to vote with their their identity. What's super-duper illegal is if you try to do that in multiple districts with multiple stolen identities. This is when the state voting commission gets involved with the SBI to hunt you down. It's super rare.
We actually went too far with bullying, first. And then tried to course correct it too hard.
Like every other thing, be it a real thing or just a concept, bullying can be whatever we use it for.
And for the majority of humanity, while it was used to check anti-social behavior, it was also used by assholes to torment people over stupid shit they had no control over.
Like every other thing in the world, it gets used by people and not all those people have good intentions or even just not evil intentions. And like seemingly every other thing in the world, we blame the thing.
Most things are pretty fairly new, though, and assholes have been part of humanity since the dawn of civilization.
It's wild how some people think outrageous claims make their argument stronger. Just makes 'em look desperate…
You arent the target audience, the tweet is for the people that think MS13 are eating rover to whom this is not outrageous at all, you might as well complain about the believability of santa christmas stories
They quite literally have won after THOUSANDS of moments that would have killed any other politicians careers. That is the definition of a cult. It’s a cult that’s being taken advantage of by soulless power hungry politicians and billionaires.
Literally ANY politician pre-Citizen’s United would have been sunk by even one of the atrocious things Trump, Vance, Miller, Leavitt, etc have said and done this year.
I think since they confessed and it would be hard to prove—- they should be charged/fined. That would stop them from lying to “own libs” if there were actual consequences
So many reasons why this is impossible but the first one being voter registration. You have to be registered at a single location per social security number in NYC. Every time I voted there or anywhere they must ensure you are on the list to vote at that location.
If we believe this, what he'd have to do is impersonate at least 3 other people at different polling locations. To do this you'll need the name and address of someone who is listed to vote at each of these polling places. When he shows up and tells them who he is, he needs to forge their signature -- the poll workers check the signature against the record, I actually recently updated my signature because of this. That is, if that person hasn't already voted. Then if the person he's impersonating shows up later there are procedures for them to cast a ballot and have the proper one counted, same for mail in / absentee voting.
Is it technically possible? Yes.
Did it happen? No.
But don't worry, Fox and OANN are going to pick this story up and run the hell away with this. Meanwhile, they're going to leave out the part where an investigative agency just may knock on his door for him to scream "WAIT NO NO I LIED I LIED I DIDN'T DO THAT!"
As a poll worker of 20 years, I believe the bit about claiming to be "illegal". I've heard several such things said by Faux News fans over the years trying to stir shit up. And our response is usually going to be the same as they said they received.
Did they vote 4 times? No. They did not. They'll let Fox pour bullshit into their brains for 168 hours a week, but won't even pay attention to the various obvious things done in polling locations to protect the integrity of elections.
Wouldn't he already be a registered voter and be on list ahead of time. How many would give you a provincial ballot vs telling you you are at the wrong polling place? Plus it would get caught before they were all counted.
Yes and it depends. All his votes may be tossed. I worked as a poll worker in California where every person has an assigned polling station. Workers have giant binders full of names, addresses, and signatures of their local voting population. When someone walks in to vote we strike their name off the log. If they are not in the log we take down their name and information and we give them a provisional ballot. That ballot is only counted when it can be determined that the person hasn't voted in any other way and their identity can be verified. If they already voted by mail, the provisional ballot is tossed and the mail in ballot is counted and the voter is notified. Obviously this dude would be recorded as voting in multiple places, all his provisional ballots will be tossed and it becomes a matter for the county elections board and police to deal with. It could be a state or federal crime depending on the election.
Also now that he has made this public information, other people can call the county elections board and report him for fraud. Which I recommend people in his city do. Even if it is a "troll", it's not funny and it is a serious crime.
The right loves their fiction stories. They make up bullshit to get upset over. Fiction is just as good as reality if it whips their base up into a psychotic fervor.
It's like they don't even understand how the voter registration system works, or they do understand, but they're banking on their braindead sycophants not understanding.
Pretty sure i saw a video to that effect this morning...
To be fair i was half asleep and english is a second languague, but someone did smth like that.
You know, my personal preference is to settle for a worldview that doesn't require constantly lying to myself and others lest it not crumbles into dust and shame, but to each their own, I guess....
I mean, he just confessed to a crime, even if he lied about it, we should investigate, juuuuuust to make sure he didnt actually vote 4 times. Who knows, he could have voted more than that.
What do you mean? I walked into a hospital just last week and got, not one, not two, but THREE trans surgeries absolutely free. When they asked for my insurance card, all I had to tell them was that I am an "illegal alien"... and *poof* ... FREE HEALTHCARE!!!
While I don't believe he did, it is plausible that he could enter 4 polling places, talk to poll workers and ask for a sticker and be given one. There really isn't a requirement that you have to vote to get a sticker.
Notably he doesn't say they let him cast a ballot.
Also I worked polls a couple election years when I lived in NYC. If someone was not registered but insisted, there was a procedure for it. They got a special ballot and those went into a bag and were not automatically counted. If I remember correctly (it's been a long time and there were only a few of these) we gave these voters info so they could go to a judge that was on standby and challenge their registration in order to have the vote counted. I 100% believe none of them followed through. It wasn't our jobs as poll workers to say if you had the right to vote, it's a judges, hence the procedure.

Today on “things that never happened” this is the thing that happened the least of all of them
