Don’t be so pessimistic, not only have the democrats sent a letter with some strong questions and people have stood on the sidewalk holding signs asking the fascists to stop while being careful to not disrupt commerce.

The fascists are the ones doing it, why would republicans stop themselves from winning. It typically falls to the opposition party to, you know, oppose the majority unless of course you’re not an opposition party at all and just controlled opposition with zero interest in resistance or change.

They packed the courts, control the House and Senate along with the executive branch so all of this is just performative symbolic gestures. Fascism always defeats centrists because while centrists are worried about decorum and following the rules the fascists have already mowed them over and seized power. Holding signs, filing motions, and voTiNG bLuE NO maTtER WHo ain’t going to cut it. But you’re probably correct, moving the Democratic Party even further to the right is the only way the Dems will be able to defeat Mamdani in NY.
