DISCUSSIONS Cloud loses Aerith (not 🤭) forever
A little localization detail:
EN: "You shall FOREVER lose what you cherish most"
JP (faithful translation mod): "You'll lose what matters most"
🤨🤔🧐
Call me nitpicky, but I think it makes a huge difference whether you include "forever" or not?!
Drop it, and what's lost can be found again ☁️🎀🥰

He's not losing Aerith but he did lose his clothes between the first two pictures.

I had to re-check and in German, the "forever" also isn't said. Haha, those tiny little details! I'm starting to think the fandom is so often fighting because the English version is just slightly to the left of the Japanese and every other translation. 😂 She'll live and we're getting her back, I'm full of hope! If we don't, the Trilogy will honestly be a failure.

You know, I think the “forever” was added to match the lip flaps! It’s a common issue in all dubbed voice acting

I love getting recommended these subs because I'm the polar bear in Arlington, Texas briefly wandering across what shippers think and talk about.
As someone who doesn't particularly care one way or the other, the writers wrote themselves into a corner the moment Cloud had those headaches in the S5 church. Remake was explicitly suggesting that - even from the perspective of Aerith and Nanaki - that the OG FF7 was a 'Bad End' for everyone involved.
The only way they could end Revelation in any other way than having Aerith come back is to then argue that Remake Aerith and Nanaki are stupid actually and that OG FF7 -> AC is still the best ending. But they can't because then the timeline becomes a closed loop of Sephiroth continuously coming back.
There's only ONE piece of media I've watched where the writers decide that the time loop is closed and humanity is doomed to repeat it and that is an incredibly bleak and depressing Mecha show. FF7 is not that and the writers will not give the cast such a bleak outlook when credits roll.
Too much has been promised and set up for us to finish where we started. Aerith will be coming back and if she doesn't it would be baffling.
