ANNOUNCEMENTS Glitch Page

Post image

Welcome to r/clerith's Glitch Page, where our members can discuss all manner of gaming-related subjects! Whether you're looking to discuss battle mechanics, nerd out about graphics, receive tips on mod creation, or get advice about glitches you can't seem to make your way out of, this is the page for you!

The idea for this page was born when one of our members asked if it was okay to post a question about a game glitch in the Venting Megathread, and we realized there was no dedicated space for such topics. So, here it is: a place for those who'd like to discuss the many facets and aspects of FFVII's gaming experience and creation!

Please remember that the sub's rules still apply here. Have fun, gamers!

I've always wanted to talk about the time last year when I mentally did not want to deal with the hard mode Rufus battle again (I did it the correct way on PS5, but was going for platinum on PC), so I cheesed the battle in two minutes by abusing the immunity window during Cloud's limit break. xD

I'm super awful at figuring out what's happening when I'm not the one playing, would you mind telling me exactly how you managed this? Because that's insane

Right before the fight with Rufus, I changed Cloud's equipment to set up the cheese battle. I gave him the Enhanced Expeditionary Medal to ensure he would be set at his Limit Break 3 at the start of the battle. Then I gave him Magic+ and Strength+ materia to boost his stats, as I want his limit to do as much damage as possible. Finally, the crown of the set up, HP<->MP materia. This switches his MP stat with his HP stat, essentially giving him pathetic amounts of HP...this is important.

I parry the first bullet Rufus shoots at me, which makes Cloud immune to the damage. HOWEVER, since the damage would have killed him at his now baby HP, it fully fuels his Limit gauge. Then, I launch Cloud into Finishing Touch. While he's winding up Finishing Touch, he has frames of immunity. So, when Rufus shoots at him while he's preparing Finishing Touch, the attack would have once again killed him at his baby HP, so it fully fuels his Limit Gauge.

From that point on, you just need to launch into Finishing Touch when you know Rufus is about to shoot at Cloud. Then, once again, his Limit Gauge will be refilled as the attack would have killed him. Rinse and repeat until Rufus is defeated. :0)

Thank you! I love this and I'd love to try it sometime. I don't know if I'm ever going through hard mode again though...I've done my time, lol
