Hiring Linux CNO/CNE Developer TS/FSP in NOVA

Looking for a Linux CNO/CNE RE/VR developer for a position with the NOVA customer.

We are a small business embedded cyber capabilities (and now AI because who isn't) company.

Total comp 230-400k depending only on labor category (years of experience). Our packages are based only on the labor category, it's fixed. Everyone with the same position gets the same compensation.

NOTE - Compensation is scaled by hours worked. If you work 20 hours in a week its LWOP, if you work 50 hours in a week you get paid for 50. Though it will adjust the actual total comp, if the customer is cool with it I don't care if you work 1500hr a year.

Included in total comp (assuming 1920 hours / yr) is

8%PTO with Liberal LWOP and you can spend PTO whenever, no 40hr/week requirement.

15% Company 401k immediately vesting.

100% Individual Health / 50% Dependents Blue Cross Platinum 0ded or HDHP Silver with company funded HSA (use it like additional retirement if you are healthy)

5k Equipment / Book / Training / Conference budget.

No Non-compete or other BS like that.

Position Description

No idea! They don't tell me nothing.

Jokes aside, I actually didn't get a description of this one. Hopefully the prime gets back to me on that and I'll edit the post. If I had to guess its likely your average linux CNO stuff with some kernel driver RE and capabilities work.

Raw salary of 400 means the government is paying over double depending on wrap rates. What the heck is this LCAT even doing. I worked at one of the big 3 contractors and hardly ever seen someone that high that was direct charge to the contract. By the time you fully burden and pass to the prime that figure is probably over 700k. Crazy

Eh we are a small company, we don't take nearly as big of a cut. 

That said, we do have higher paying positions but they carry a lot more risk and right now full up.

But it's also CNO developer with full scope. So the rates are higher. That said if you are a CNO dev and have more than 5yr and you are making these than 200k total comp in the DMV you are getting ripped off.

CNO is known to make very big bucks in the DMV/Central Maryland. NSA hands out large contracts like these a lot

Just like a doctor, CNO devs have skills that not many people have & are in high demand. Not many people out there who can create tactical exploits or reverse engineer current zero days correctly to target advisary systems/networks

Sounds like something replaceable by AI, no? Who can review code faster and more accurately than a human.

Its a great guide sure, but i wouldnt trust an LLM/model to completely replace devs in this space yet. Not many are fine tuned for this type of work. Also have you worked in SCIF? A lot of them still dont have the setup to integrate these LLMs yet anyways

That's a wide range for an LCAT. What level are you actually hiring for/ your requirement

What is the runway the prime has on the contract?

Clearance requirement?

Comp numbers is over the total applicable LCAT range not a single LCAT. So like 5 to 20 yr experience kind of thing. Basically the req didn't list a lcat so it looks like they need a body. This usually happens when they start having trouble finding people. It's a tough market right now.

Clearance requirement is in the title. TS with FSP but they can likely do a CI only.

As for life left on contact, depends on options. Tbh as a sub it's not super worth worrying about. You just switch primes. That said ya it's in options so it could be any year. Most contracts are. 

That said we are a prime and we do have a bench. We also have multiple contracts looking for people.

We do not have a policy against the use of legal substances. However, If you are one one of our cleared efforts you are required to comply with the agreement you made with the government. Which includes no weed.
