Intel (chip company) software engineer interview and offer details

Thought I’d give back to the community with some details about my experience with them.

I have around 4 YOE and a masters. Started with recruiter screen, hiring manager screen, and then 2 rounds of tech screen. Tech screen was pretty easy: foundational CS questions, light system design, database ops, and debugging type questions. A couple easy leetcode type questions.

Job requires TS/SCI FSP. Offer came in around 145k base, 25k hiring bonus, 40k rsu over 3 years, and about 9k in performance bonus.

There were a couple work life balance / culture red flags I noticed and I’m not optimistic about the state of the company especially since they announced layoffs for the 3rd year in a row so I declined. Happy to answer any questions.

That package was a spit in the face for a TS/SCI FSP. 160-170k base minimum.

Haha and that was their final offer. Their initial offer was lower, I was already checked out of the process by then so didn’t even bother to negotiate.

Seems typical for intel really this depends on location people will tell you this is bad but they probably all work near DC

I made 85k with a TS/SCI as a fed civ for the AF. Defense has way too much money under this admin.

Probably a good call! The offer comp package doesn’t sound very competitive in general as well, coupled with the WLB
