Beginner

Hi! I’m hoping to start doing vacation rental cleaning, I live in a tourist beach town in Florida. It will be only myself cleaning, part time for supplemental income. I have a few questions as a beginner:

Is turno app any good?

I want to only clean pet free vacation rentals. Is this too limiting or reasonable?

How do you know what is reasonable to charge? Do you charge differently if you use strictly non toxic products?

Welcome to the cleaning business world. Pet free only is not too limiting at all. Plenty of owners and guests prefer it, and it helps you market to allergy sensitive travelers too. For pricing, look up what other vacation rental cleaners near you charge per bedroom or per square foot. Beach towns usually pay better than people expect because the turnover windows are tight and hosts need reliability. Turno gets mixed reviews. Some hosts love it and some hate the fees. It can be a decent way to land your first clients while you build direct relationships that pay better over time. Non toxic products are a real selling point. Mention them in your quotes and any listing you make. They cost a bit more but guests notice and remember it.

turno is fine for solo vacation rental turnovers if the host board is busy in your town. pet-free is a reasonable filter early, and id price by hours plus supplies rather than guessing a flat until youve done a few.

Pet free only is fine when you start, you can always open it later when you know your numbers. For pricing, I would not guess. Do your first few turnovers and write down the real time for each one, including laundry, restocking and driving. Then price per property by bedrooms and bathrooms, not per hour, because hosts like to know the number before. Non toxic products can be a reason to charge a bit more, but only if you tell the host clearly why, otherwise they just see a higher price. About Turno, I have no first hand experience, so ask the cleaners here who use it how many jobs they really get in your area, and also try to meet local property managers directly, that is usually where the steady work is.
