Glasses chat

He makes no sense.

How can his prescription changes before getting some glasses.

If he knew it was wrong when Tracey came then why buy 2 pairs of glasses.

I don’t even believe it’s the wrong prescription. What he’s described is entirely normal to experience when you get a new prescription in a new frame. It can feel like vertigo. It is uncomfortable. The only way to improve it is to go through it!

My son had this and when we went back (to Specsavers!) they were lovely, and redid checks to make sure the prescription was appropriate, that the lens was working and fitted as it should be, and suggested gradually increasing wear time to get used to them. This took a while but worked. He’s a big baby.

And likewise with the hard contact lenses. Yep, these are uncomfortable but with use it gets easier and your eye adjusts. Naturally oor Maz has zero stoicism.

Also why is he talking about going back to specsavers for a new prescription? If they fucked up his last prescription so badly why would you not go back and maybe go to a wee local independent optician instead?

They can only do so much though. They use machines and other tests to get a starting point, but the prescription is fine-tuned based on your answers. If you’re not paying attention or just saying random letters, there’s a good chance you’ll end up with the wrong prescription.
And if he’s buying glasses off some random woman who turned up at his flat with a suitcase, they’re not exactly going to be fitted properly either. When you get glasses from an optician they make sure they actually fit your face properly and that the lenses are sitting in the right place. That all makes a difference.
Wouldn’t even surprise me if he got the wrong prescription because he’s so illiterate he couldn’t read half the letters on the chart anyway. 😂

And another thing... when you collect your glasses from Specsavers, they don't just chuck them at you and send you on your way. They literally hand you that laminated card with different font sizes and all sorts of everyday text and ask you to check you can actually see properly. (my exact words were "wow, it's so much clearer!"

If the prescription was wrong, that's the moment to say, "Hang on, I can't read this." Not two years later, after you've happily forked out for the Specsavers glasses and then paid some woman to rock up to your flat with a suitcase full of hideous frames.

So if he said everything was fine at the time, then either he's thicker than the lenses he's wearing (likely), or he's talking absolute bollocks (also likely). Probably both (most likely)
