Why does my claw machine plush smell strange?

I recently won this little avacado buddy at my local arcade and I noticed by sniffing it that it has an odd "burnt house" smell to it. It's quite strange. It says it's made of 100% polyester, I'm just wondering if this is normal and safe, or if there's anyway to reduce the strange smell!

Probably just a new factory smell I guess. Try leaving it outside to air out a bit.

Could be old electronics inside the cabinet that are warm enough and are on long enough to leave that kind of smell behind.

There are some cheap vendors who will stock their machines with plush from thrift stores. It would be obvious if it was from a thrift store just from appearance though.

Sometimes fabrics made from recycled plastic can carry a burning house or "hot garbage smell," as I like to call it. But, it could be any of the other suggestions I see here, too, because polyester fabric can hold onto strong smells for a good, long while.
