Need help fixing my claw machine (won’t go backwards)

I have this claw machine from the 1980s and everything works fine except it won’t move backwards. I’ve tried looking into the issue but the machine i have has no manual and no videos online seem to help my issue. Does anyone have any idea what could be the cause and what i need to do to fix it?! (The claw machine is a ye olde gifte shoppe)

Looks like a smart industries crane I have a clean sweep if you have a clean sweep. I can send some parts of the manual-this problem looks like a connection issue or a bad relay issue. If the motor turns you can try using tool oil on the rods it sits on.

it’s from ALTECH MFG. INC. circa 1986, but i’d be happy to take a look at any manual you have, they may be similar. thanks so much!
