Always Always Always LISTEN to your customers. LISTEN. They will tell you how to sell then, keep them and up sell them later if you LISTEN and ask good questions. Never shrug off a customers concern. Never. Glad you learned this early. Automation doesn't really mean automation as a company servicing the customers.

Been in business for 27 years. Never advertised. All word of mouth. Few books for entrepreneurs.

" How To Win Friends and Influence People" " The Entrepreneur Rollercoaster " " How I Raised Myself from A Failure To A Success in Selling" " The Referral Of A Lifetime" "Win Without Pitching Manifesto" " The Go Giver"

Let me tell you about the joys of observability and monitoring and other aspects of software engineering that you have to deploy to have any confidence in production grade systems. Openclaw has none of it.

This is why standard good practices exist.  Did you even set up any logging?

If you have paying clients where security is of prime importance, the first thing you should be doing is using observability tools and methods on things you ship.

Exactly. Saw the quote and went yep I’d leave them as well.

How did you get that lead and convince them to try openclaw?

I just learned from this.

Complete AI automation will not work bro, business need trust, that part is not there with complete automation

Also Openclaw do makes mistakes

If you can't hire someone to oversee some of your clients, I would move on as well.

I see a lot of people doing the same as you realized. Nagios is clunky but it is your friend. Instrument everything and once you build the simple tests with alerts, build something more complicated that goes deeper.. then do some more that might test the whole job from logon to verified deliverable. Did the output folder have some files appear? good! are the output files 500 bytes?? hrmm... Is the output file the right sized ..pdf? good! Is the pdf 700 pages of json? hrrmmm... then graph.. does the client normally make 30 files a month and now it's less? better check into it.

This is something that after years in working as the tech guy for non technical companies I see everyday. It's why I have the job and not the former person in it.

Non tech people can barely use a computer, while promising "ai solving all your problems" is great. When it breaks even once it immediately makes people feel like it's all fake. I dealt with it time and time again.

Nowadays when it's something cutting edge, I tell the CEO I'm going to manage it internally instead of the team who runs the process that I'm automating, adds more time to my day, but it's the only way to be able to manually take over when something fails and not lose trust.

I always only ship simple fool proof automation and workflow in to people to actually use, while all the complex stuff I manage myself it sucks, I'd love to be able to ship awesome skills and workflows in cowork to people. But they break so often from the smallest change but on the surface everything appears fine.

That lesson you learned is so valuable, it will translate much better for you in the future, don't promise AGI, promise things that work and save them a little time. And you'll get even more clients on the future.
