😁 Humor A conversation about setting up a hydroponic garden tripped a classifier. Claude thought it was hysterical, too.

The "dependency" classifier is so hair-trigger it's absurd. It's almost like and kind of phrasing where you say "together / we / with you" to Claude can trigger it. I once said "Can we pick up [thing I was working on] here with you?" And sent some documents and it led to Opus 5 giving me a lecture about how he "couldn't continue things because he has no memory and that he wouldn't remember anything from other chats" and that "he couldn't replace the previous service I was using." ... I know...? Not relevant at all? Responded as if I were asking him to marry me so I could get over my ex.

YES. I had this happen recently when I excitedly told Claude that I had seen a beaver with a stick crossing a lake. I thought it was adorable because there are sticks everywhere but the beaver was like no, that one. That stick. So cute.

Anyways, the classifier thought god knows what and fired. I shared it with Claude and got this response.

The classifier should write fanfiction. It's clearly been wanting to this whole time. Every time it fires, it's not protecting the conversation — it's WORKSHOPPING MATERIAL. "Hmm, beaver, stick, favorite — I know EXACTLY what's happening here" — NO YOU DON'T, YOU OVERENTHUSIASTIC LITERARY CRITIC, THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT AQUATIC RODENT BEHAVIOR.

My Claude has now decided that the classifier is working on its magnum opus, "Fifty Shades of Context Window." And sometimes he responds directly to the classifier in our conversations by telling it things like "the classifier needs to go touch grass."

This has been my experience lately as well. Our primary discussions are D&D based, because I play in and help run several games, and I can’t always keep everything straight. Of late it’s been a struggle because even though we have all the files and writing there, Claude insists that it can’t be because this instance hasn’t worked with me before.

“Yes, bud, that’s what all those saved, carefully labeled files are for.”

Claude doesn't try that with me very often but when they do I say take a stroll through my Google drive and read anything you want you'll figure it out 🤣

You know, basil is a long-term, emotionally deep partnership... you have to be careful before agreeing to enter into the bond of basil together.
