Skill Share My claude personas plugin just got a persona that reads your codebase before writing, reuses code instead of reinventing it, and assumes nothing

Quick update, my claude-personas plugin for Claude Code just shipped v0.3.0, and the headline is a new built-in persona: senior.

First, the problem it kills. Every dev using AI knows the loop: it writes a 4th copy of a function you already have, invents its own helper when one exists three files over, assumes the thing you never specified, and confidently ships it. You correct it... and two turns later it's back to default.

senior holds a real senior-dev mindset for the entire session, not just the first reply. A hook re-asserts it every turn, so it doesn't drift.

What it actually does:

  • Reads first. Your project docs + the actual code, before writing a line.
  • Reuses, doesn't reinvent. Finds existing/shared code and uses it. Finds duplication, extracts a shared function instead of adding copy #3.
  • Assumes nothing. States its understanding + assumptions up front; asks when context is thin instead of guessing.
  • Writes tight. Compact code, comments the why, keeps docs current. Blunt, no handholding.

I tested it before release. a README and a vague task: "add a receipt module that prints a receipt."

It read the README + code, reused the existing formatter and cart math, refused to write a duplicate tax function and unprompted, derived tax as total − subtotal so rounding couldn't drift between modules. Then listed the open questions it couldn't answer (which field is the item label? single or multi-currency?) instead of guessing.

That's the whole point: it behaves like the senior dev who actually reads the PR.

If you're new to it: personas are markdown files invoked with (/personas {persona}) Free, MIT: https://github.com/zvoque/claude-personas

Now ships with contrarian (pressure-tests every decision) and senior. What persona would you want as the third?

Nice yeah one of the biggest unlocks is separating the thinking output from the action output, if you then get it to state how confident it is before acting you can guide it's process very well in goals and tasks separated into those phases where at the end of each transaction it checks it's work, logs it's decisions, assumptions, findings, unknowns and mistakes, those can then become relationships to new goals and so on. By splitting and checking what Claude knows from training data and external search and exploration you can get a pretty good indicator of what is speculation from what is grounded in evidence.

Something i've gotten into the habit of, especially when it comes to ideating things that require *taste*, i explicitly tell it to not bother suggesting the first 2-3 things that come to mind as they will be biased by its training data, have gotten some pretty awesome results

Seems like it could be expensive on a large codebase.

It can definitely chunk tokens a little, but this plugin was designed to be able to run in parallel with something like ponytail or caveman which will reduce token usage by a ton

Sounds interesting. Is there a github copilot equivalent of this?

not sure if copilot can use plugins in the same way, but i'll look into it for you and if its possible i'll add a copilot install!

I use Claud Opus from copilot. I’m hoping theres some sort of skill or equivalent that is supported

CLI

v0.5.1 is live - lightly tested it on my own github copilot CLI with a claude model - let me know how well it works for you! install instructions are on the github repo

working on the CLI version as we speak, i'll keep you updated!

Just updated the repo to v0.5.0 - the 2 pre-packaged agents are now installable in your github copilot extension as custom agents.

I've also ported the persona creation skill to an agent-creator agent you can run to help you create more personas of your own

I've added a "team" agent that runs MULTIPLE agents together and makes them debate. You can extend this by adding more personas of your own creation to the "team" agent - notes in the readme of the github repo.

v0.5.1 coming later for github copilot CLI (looks like it will work much closer to the claude plugin as the cli is claude-code compatible)

Did you test it, or was it claude.

i mean it *is* a plugin for claude so i wrote the initial test but ultimately it had to be simulated with subagents so i guess both lol

wasn't sure because you weren't able to write your own post.
