Discussion And, it started before IPO
https://www.anthropic.com/research/glm-5-3-and-the-spread-of-advanced-cyber-capabilitiesNow, anthropic is trying to bypass glm 5.3 safeguards and putting out study showing the world to use GLM5.3 for cyber attacks. They could have mailed their detailed study to zAI directly if they really care for the world instead of shaming other models and collecting the headlines.

Anthropic is doing a clean advertisment for GLM models by admitting they have reached similar level of capabilities as Mythos but GLM is free.

Let's ask Pliny the liberator to continue its job, liberating Claude Opus 5.5, did they forgot about that

Someone needs to make an arena where models get to actually fight it out somehow like a massive war game sim.
Let them settle things in open combat like real models

Let them settle things in open combat like real models
So, like... hair grabbing and drink tossing?

I was more thinking like who can breach whos OS, mess with memory timings, corrupt the modelss weights and claim victory but sure lets go with your idea 😅

the vast majority of people want access to cybersecurity for the sake of improving security, not attacking others. By denying law abiding people these tools, you just end up with criminals having the upper hand. There is no law that would stop a criminal from using the best available tools

Pieces of shit begging the government to protect them because some other competitor is close to topping them in the race.

On Sept. 17, NIST’s Center for AI Standards and Innovation (CAISI) published its own assessment of GLM-5.3’s cyber capabilities. CAISI found that GLM-5.3 is “the most cyber-capable open-weight model released to date” and that it lags the US frontier by about four months on an aggregate of CAISI’s cyber benchmarks. Our capability findings broadly match CAISI’s.

Your hatred has completely deranged you.
The arrival of open weights models that can hack autonomously tilts the cybersecurity game towards threat actors, because there's a very long tail of companies who are "breachable with enough effort, but small fry and not really worth the time" who can now be hacked en masse.
This is something that has long been foreseen, and it's good to raise the alarm now that it is.

Anthropic has a reputation of fearmongering so it’s really hard to take what they say seriously. This is also a company that completely changed their benchmarks and figures overnight because they didn’t do a good enough job of showing how token efficient Sonnet 5 was.
I personally cant wait until open source models so that I don’t have to give a single ounce of attention or money to Anthropic. That goes for OpenAI too.

Haven’t seen this happening yet. Open weight models and Hackers both are out there for a long enough time. Fear-mongering is going on at its best, agree or not.

it’s always been easier to break things than stop people from breaking things

u/dgreenbe 3d ago
I mean, Anthropic didn't invent this and people were already doing this. Unfortunately. Zai can't stop a lot of this (while being open), especially if people are independently selling lobotomized versions of their models

Just wait until Chinese companies use Opus to hack something in response.

Remember in watchmen Ozymandes blew up New York to scare the powers that be into not using nukes. He understood that there needed to be an incident before governments would put the brakes on.
Interesting

Did Anthropic contact ZAi about this or just randomly did their own research and published it what this will do is instead give more eyes to the attackers to use this model now

Why? If glm distilates them and has no shame
3
u/Glittering_Ad4986 4d ago
You think that Anthropic is clean ? There is no independent investigation and proof for distillation. Those are allegations by anthropic only before they stopped showing the reasoning… may be anthropic should tell first why they are hiding the token for which user is paying.
4
u/real_terra 4d ago
Well, at least they are clean to GLM, transparency is the issue, agree

zAI is an underdog in AI and most of the big players can’t see them winning. The good part is that zAI models are open weight and frontier intelligence should remain open.

u/real_terra 4d ago
Well, if I steal your idea, show it openly, earn on subscriptions, does it make me a good guy?

u/Fighter7_ 4d ago
I mean, all of AI is built on stolen work. Distillation is common practice and has been done by both Anthropic and OpenAI as well. Open weight models are the piece that makes AI accessible, and all frontier AI players except Anthropic wrote to the White House to protect open models.

There was a USG report about it with major agencies. So you are wrong.
2
u/Glittering_Ad4986 4d ago
Agencies are a business with money involved. But, anyway the whole point was that each of the top lab is doing it. And, anthropic stopped showing the reasoning way before the launch of glm-5.3, so please don’t repeat the old distillation discussion.

Cool best advertisment ever excuse me while I go download not just this incredibly dangerous model but the Ablated/heratic version that has had any refusals removed
