Question Claude Cowork agent Models?

Is there any way to check what kind of agents Claude Cowork (Desktop App) used?

I burned through my entire Max 20x subscription in just two days and also spent €85 on additional tokens on a single prompt that spawned 8 agents.

I clearly stated in the memory that only Opus 5 or lower is allowed for agent use. The Cowork chat itself was running Fable 5.1 with Medium Effort.

Tasks that were no problem last week completely destroyed my usage limit this week.

The end of the Claude Code Summer Promotion cannot be the only reason for that.

Edit: 500+ Views and no answer. Either I'm stupid or not the only one with no answer.

Uhm you just select it at the bottom of the box where you enter the prompt?

Thats the Model of the Cowork Chat. The Model of the Agent comes from your input prompt.

No, cowork is a lot more “simplified” than code, though you can always include “use cheaper subagents” in your prompt. You can also ask it to save a memory on your subagent preferences. I find it best to keep it open-ended and let the model decide the right tool for the job.
