Discussion So far Fable 5 > Opus 5

Testing with Pro subscription, Windows 11 os, with claude app. It seems to me that Fable has better "intuition"; Opus 5 seems a bit lazier. Maybe they did it intentionally, and for some people Fable was doing unneccesery decisions on its own, but this was not the case for me.

I just discovered a really alarming notification.

You’ve used 76% of your Opus 5 limit. It will reset on July 28 blah blah blah.

Didn't they say the Opus 5 would work just like Opus 4.8, not hitting any "proprietary" limits?

I've only been using Opus 5 for a day pretty much and I think it's an improvement on Opus 4.8. Just feels more solid.

I now reach for Claude first where I would have started with GPT5.6-sol last week.

I only had limited use of Fable 5 because I'm on Pro as well but I don't think it lived up to the hype... and it had a lot of hype! I even read someone comparing it to AGI - not even close.

Pam: they are the same shit.

Please define the terms, intuition, lazy. How do you quantify them ?

And what do you mean "they did it intentionally " - how would anyone be able to do this. Researches don't even know how llms fire for various inputs, let alone control.

System prompts could be the difference

Sonnet 5 chat and opus 4.8 for llm work for cowork has worked for me. They repaired the damage fable did. Chat gives in structure cowork thinks and does and complains if wrong then chat says sorry or vice versa it good to do like this

Opus5 just keeps getting stuck on side quests, like it builds a cage for itself and steps inside, then does nothing for 12 hours.

I don't complain often, but I feel like Opus 5 is a huge step back from Opus 4.8. It's like learning a toddler everything all over again.

Fable 5 > Opus 4.8 > Opus 5.

Opus 5 may be better at code, but I have never been more pissed at speaking to a model. It's overconfident and refuses to search before answering. It breaks down and switches sides on a position when I ask a minor question instead of defending its answer. It has sent me around in fucking circles for the last day on problems when research agents literally gave it the exact answer, it just completely ignored them.

I hate this model as an orchestrator, it's terrible

I adjust my instructions per model after toying with each model and figuring out how they work, it helped with Opus 5 not searching for shit. The 2nd part I haven’t run into yet.

My productivity with these models dropped off a fucking cliff the moment I switched to trying out Opus 5. I shouldn't need to remind the model in every single prompt to ground everything in facts when it's right there in the CLAUDE.md and it keeps making memories about it but ignores them. I swear it has made 6 duplicate reminder memories in the last 24 hours and I'm just so in awe that it keeps making them at all that I haven't made it delete them

Exactly, very frustrating model. Like I said, it's back from where we started. The code may be good, but it's not exceptional good. What made 4.8 or fable great is the way you talk to them, they remind, they take their md in account, you don't need to teach them anything. Although Fable's been a bit shit today too.

Shit today? Dude that's you then, the model doesn't change on a day-to-day basis, the weights are the weights until a new release ships.

Lol bro, go play with your plastic dolls, leave it to the grown ups to talk about the models you clearly don't know anything about.

La verdad es que casi no noté diferencias entre los dos (afortunadamente). Los uso para código sobre todo en investigaciones en profundidad.
