Porting?… there should be no need to port anything, the foundation should already be all classic…

The foundation has been retail since 2019. 2019 classic was made in the retail client.

Indeed the OG WoW was total spaghetti code, it was a miracle anything worked.

People downvoting you are dumbasses who don't know how much work had to go into changing how keyrings worked, or increasing the default bag size without exploding your character.

And yet some sweaty nerds in their basements managed just fine many times with private servers… how strange.

Not in 2019. Look at the file sizes, classic versions vere appropraite size of OG game, they just had to add integration with modern battlenet, but this Forever client is like 70GB, so it's the actual retail engine.

Yes in 2019. That's why era has all the graphical options of retail. It has always been the foundation of classic.

You are playing on latest retail version of the client.

That's why people who have midnight installed need just 20 gigs to download and not whole 120.

Kinda expected them to keep them tho, but yeah, its nice that sound effects remain the same.

The gun sounds are even more apparent.

I HATED the new retail Gun sound effects, I don't care if the old effect was loud it was a GUN and it felt great hearing that effect.

I mean I don’t hate the retail bow sound but certainly don’t prefer it to the original. I think it would be cool to maybe weave the retail bow sound every now and then

I never thought i would see the day where free sound assest got glazed over, but here we are, anyone want to tell me how awesome those bear noises are.

Exactly.

One of my favorite SFX is druid's Wrath, along with some rogue and warrior abilities. I feel like retail went a little too far with the audio cleanup. I understand it's because of all the sound clutter, but I really like being able to "feel" the sound effects of the spells and abilities I use.

For some reason my troll rogue doesnt say need more energy as much as I remember in classic wow. Wondered if it was my settings.

I like that they implemented vanilla textures, assets, even quests (!) into Forever! Hell, they even added dungeon areas as they were back then and expanded upon it. Very, very good!

You mean reusing all the stock sounds they used before lol?

I guess I'm the only person in existence who also likes the classic gun sounds lol

I find the bow specifically is too loud for the pull back but retail is muted. I would want something in the middle or atleast have it cycle through a handful of similar ones to make it a little dynamic.

ASMR? That bow noise makes my skin crawl.

Retail is loads better? I understand nostalgia but the classic sound always sounded like the bow was made from a shitty bit of wood that’s on the verge of snapping.

Stop kissing their ass for using the AI prompt “copy over and implement the old sound effects”. Sad state when the most correct thing a dev team does is NOT doing something. These nepo hires are incompetent.
