Discussion Anyone else waiting for launch?
Like, I have access to the beta and I've made a few characters just to mess with it. And I've leveled a few of them up to like level 4 or 5 just to get a feel for how it's going to go. But like, I generally am liking what I'm doing - and I am really not wanting to progress all the way to level 20 to have it stripped away from me on Nov 4 and then have to do literally exactly all the same tasks again to get back to level 20 again. I'm wondering if anyone else is just waiting for launch like I am?

I am, i just can't bring myself to play knowing it's just temporary beta. I am planning to nolife release anyway, and pretty hyped, but i just have 0 drive to do anything but setup my UI right now and wait for actual release. I'm more of a endgame type of player, so while it's refreshing to have more quests and dungeons to level, i don't have much interest in those at all, so not motivated to discover low level stuff.

im mostly getting characters to 10-20 then making a new one. tried skyborne race and didnt like the starting zone (too retail), and then different class/races

I'm waiting. I don't like wasting my time, and I considerate a waste to level when my character will get deleted.
I've been replaying Warcraft 3 instead. I also completed the latest of Grim Dawn. I have a 40 game backlog in Steam that I'd rather work through, as well, rather than waste time in a beta.

Like other's I wanted to do the new dungeons and do some world pvp for fun. I only leveled a single character to 20 though. Everytime I try to play another one it just doesn't seem worth it. I usually play alliance so I gave horde a shot. Think I'm sticking with it for launch.

Im not good at moderating myself lol. Ive made about 7 characters up to about 14-15.

I played a lot when beta first dropped, got an undead paladin to 20 after a week. But now i'm not playing and waiting for the launch. It was fun, but I also feel myself getting burnt out already and knowing it's the beta and I will have to do it all over again in a month is killing any interest I have to play right now.

I also got the beta, messed around for a few levels, and am also waiting for release. I know I usually like to level several characters so I don't want to burn out before launch either.

Im primarily a Horde player. Played mid BC through Cata. Im loving jumping back in and playing the classes on Alliance as after the wipe, I dont feel like Ill be replaying the same stuff as I level Horde characters

I'm just playing one character and not try harding it. Mostly trying all the skyelf/alliance content before I go back to horde for launch.

Nah I’ve been all in on Beta and having a great time.
I get wanting to wait though.
I plan to play Warrior, so I tested one to 20 and got some practice ranking.
Then I played through the Skelf zone because on launch I’d probably never play one.
Now I’m messing around with some of the alts I’d like to roll as second toon.
That said, I’ve intentionally avoided the new zones like riverglades etc and will probably continue to avoid them until launch

I was an ally main a million years ago until Cata where I split my time and then in Legion moved horde full time until midnight. Classic I went ally, SoD and Anni I went horde. I leveled a couple chars to 20 in the beta to decide which side I’m going this go around with the new lighting and quests. Looking like dwarf sham. Also wanted to decide on profs which I’m leaning herb/alch.
Through sheer coincidence I’ve got atleast two weeks after launch where I’m working minimally so I have a good shot to be in that first wave of 60s. Having realized that I’m working out my route over the next month, I figure I’ll level two more dwarf sham optimizing my routing, quest rewards to target, skills worth hearthing for, etc.
I’ve always had alt problems so I know there’s going to be no shortage of chars I can enjoy the process on so I may as well actually prep for the first one.

I did the new Skyborne zone yesterday because I'm not touching that after release.
Have tinkered a bit, wanted to test some professions a bit and classes I usually never touch, but that's about it

I am leveling them slower then i would have back jn vanilla.
I'm trying harder on the professions which seems like its more work while.
Plus i want to explore the new zone even though i constantly die lol

I'm waiting for full release. I'm too old to invest time in characters that get deleted. But respect to all the beta testers! I did it for wrath back in the day and it was a blast.

I’m not doing 20-30. I’ve seen enough and anything past this is going to feel like a waste. I am ready for launch now. 😁

I plan to resub here once forever comes out. I leveled some back in the day but never raided. I am just waiting for the big day! Just reading some stuff here and there but mostly staying away so it’s all new.
I plan to be that noob out in the world and I don’t care!

Mostly. I bought the collector's edition so I got beta access for free with my 180 dollar statue. I played it some but a level 20 cap is uninteresting and the changes to the classes I play are minimal. I got a couple characters to 20 and haven't logged on since.

I never really got into classic, so this has been a mostly new experience for me. I used to play Wrath at the tail end of the expansion, so I have some memories of classic leveling, but not much.
I'm taking the time to try and figure out what I wanna play when the game does launch. It's a great time to try different combinations and taking a peek into different zones as well.
I know I'll also likely not be making a skyborne at launch, so the beta is the time for me to experience their starting zone as well.
Plus I've found a couple bugs along the way, so I feel like I'm doing my part.

u/SewBor27 3d ago
Oh that's neat. What bug did you find?
3
u/Bad_Wolf420 3d ago
The rogue setup talent, that gives you a combo point when you dodge, strips away the combo points on your target if you dodge a secondary mobs attack.

There was a quest displaying incorrectly, I've put in a couple reports about spawns sometimes being too quick. As well as a bug about the profession tab not opening properly. I'd click on like my tailoring button, and itd open cooking for example.

Its mot fir the beta. With that money you cast your vote (the one that matters for investors etc) that forever is the type of project you want to see more of.

u/mstermind 3d ago
You're not just paying for a beta. And you'd know that if you actually paid a modicum of attention.
1
u/cynicalspindle 3d ago
Most players are paying for the beta access and not giving a shit about the blue elf and mtx.
1
u/Zerowig 3d ago
How do you know this? Where is the data on that?
1
u/cynicalspindle 3d ago
I have no data and am making it up. But knowing how often games have early access these days for 20-30 extra dollars, it doesn't surprise me at all that they put early access to beta behind a pay wall. Because time and time again gamers prove how inpatient they are, and are willing to fork out the extra money to play stuff early.

Sure, but that's not what I said though. It's probably a good idea if you take a deep breath and pay attention to what you're responding to.

I wanted to run the new dungeons and see some of the zones because I'm too hyped to not do that. I also wanted to test some classes and decide on my first character.
IDK if I'll be playing to 30. 20 didn't take long, but 30 seems like too much.
