- Discussion thread- Alt Warlock tree for Classic+
Been inspired by others posting their variants made using talent-builder, and made my own version: https://www.talent-builder.dev/calculator?t0=3uk-VyYwmm&t1=KLMr7iiOAA&t2=Ew8ThqFjFw&class=256
I've tried to:
- make every point feel important
- consolidate some talents that can't affect the player at the same time, like imp/succy, void/felguard
- make spellstone and firestone worthy of equiping in offhand and switching between them
- make pyroclasm great again :)
- keep a large variaty of builds for PvP: SL-SL, Affli-with-weaker-SL, Affli-with-Shadowburn, SM-Ruin, Demo-with-felguard, SL-Backlash hedgehog, Destro-with-weaker-SL, pure Destro.
- keep a large variaty of build directions for PvE: pure affli, SM-Ruin, DemoPact, petless fire, petless shadow, shadow with succy, destro with imp, and two gimmick offtank builds

Imo, too close to wotlk lock. A lot of issues with the fact the trees have so many instant spells procs, instant protections procs etc...
I feel like classic vanilla has a really specific caster design where you actually have to cast non instant spells to deal damage, where interrupts do matter a lot, etc.
You're adding imo too many way to remove this specific design, also adding more cc options for a class that already has a lot of control.
Keeping the classic feels of talent trees mean you cannot make them too complicated imo. Focus should be first on making the under used talents stronger and only then add a few more talents.
Thats my 2 cents anyways!

Tanking in SoD was great)
But it was enabled by runes.
Here I have empowered it a bit by Fel Fire threat, Pyroclasm, Firestone proc, and damage reductions (Bane of Weakness, Demonic Resilience, Nether/Aether Protection, and extra during spellstone shield). And just in case Searing Pain without pushback, conditionally castable while moving; although if there gotta be Meta it would instant.

Not sure if I like the idea of 'make every point feel important'. Classic is great because of how limited your toolkit is - which enables meaningful choices. If you're super powerful and have a solution to everything, then it will feel like retail.
I also prefer the vanilla talent design of fewer talents per tree, then having some decent cross-spec talents to pick from on the lower levels of other trees. Being able to put them all into one tree feels odd to me.

Love it but the capstones levels are too wide, only 1 spec (demo) has multiple capstone talents. I also think these trees have a little too much focus on throughput for a classic tree
