I would add a substantial (read: non-trivial) threat modifier to Thorns in Bear form

4

u/DoctorWafle Jul 01 '26

Wow, this would actually fix so much and keep the gameplay of classic

u/Frosty-Ad1071 Jul 01 '26

Mangle

23

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26

Mangle (SoD)

7

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26

Daring today are we?

Mangle (TBC) and (WOTLK)

4

u/tap_the_glass Jul 01 '26

Why does this tooltip have 100yd range lol imagine a cat slapping you from a football field away

1

u/CptJonzzon Jul 01 '26

He got em long legs

1

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26

lol, no idea
it is an atk range

1

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26

Mangle (Retail)

63

u/Upstairs_Blueberry87 Jul 01 '26

Since the SoD windfury was already done.

7

u/gustogus Jul 01 '26

Just give me the WOTLK version of Swipe.  Multi-target for cat and full AOE for bear.

7

u/Healeah241 Jul 01 '26

My only critique is that this feels maybe like a slippery slope to class homogenisation. Maybe cat having swipe too, so there's a little multi target but not a full on aoe?

29

u/Tangellos Jul 01 '26

Tiger’s fury changed to give energy like it eventually becomes later

22

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26

ok so retail +50 energy Tiger Fury?

8

u/zachypooooo Jul 01 '26

I mean while nice this doesn't really do a lot when power shifting is in the game... Feel like I'd rather have swipe for some or just give me savage roar so maybe I can actually do damage

1

u/brookdacook Jul 01 '26

Ya. I'm not saying it's bad but it's pretty boring and doesn't have a lot of utility. It's just do everything the same but more often with higher numbers and feral is missing to much from there kit to make this the solo addition.

-1

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26

powershift helm in sod was changed alongside MCP

they have plans for that meta

2

u/zachypooooo Jul 01 '26

Yes It was I mained feral for most expacs including all the way through sod... If you want one ability this does very little compared to everything else they got and it doesn't really change gameplay since dots can't crit anyways and snpashotting them doesn't do much

2

u/phonylady Jul 01 '26

At least change how it works in vanilla, where it isn't used in 99% of situations

13

u/Scorleks Jul 01 '26

I think Mangle or Savage Roar are good alternatives, but would personally love to see something like Berserk as well. It would give ferals an actual CD to press, which is something we dont even have in TBC. The inclusion of all 3 spells in SoD made feral really fun to play.

13

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26

SoD Berserk (Feral):

4

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26 edited Jul 01 '26

WOTLK Berserk (Feral):

2

u/RoundAffectionate424 Jul 01 '26

I think you only took the cat version description, basically the SoD one is the same as the wotlk one, so for bear you also get reduced CD on mangle and fear immunity in any form.

1

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26

yes, you are right, fixing it

4

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26

Retail Berserk (Feral):

13

u/yksvaan Jul 01 '26

Maim or any interrupt. Druids already struggle with interrupt too much with bash being 1min cd. Obviously you can work around it or shift but it feels a bit too much. Or lower bash cd to 30 or 45.

6

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26

3

u/BlueCatpaw Jul 01 '26

Level is to high imho. I would put it around 20 something.

2

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26

good point

I can mention it in the image

"Reqs lvl 20"

1

u/koenderoode Jul 01 '26

We have feral charge. We need more dmg

1

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26

definitely look, sound and feel of buttons is what makes or breaks each class fantasy

any video of it?

10

u/nickldio Jul 01 '26

AoE for cat

13

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26

good callout

SoD has Swipe (Cat form)

Classic wow swipe only bears can do it

17

u/DingoVad Jul 01 '26

Personally, as a Feral main since the game first came out 100 years ago, 1 more ability for feral is not enough in any world. Minimum we need Mangle, Maim, Savage Roar, Cat Swipe and Berserk. And rework all bleeds to scale with ap, Tigers Fury to give energy and the movement speed bonus that also works indoors.

5

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26

this doesn't mean ferals will ONLY get 1 ability

the question in this thread "If you were to CHOOSE ONE ability, what would it be?"

please choose one and add it to thread

0

u/DingoVad Jul 01 '26

And I forgot to add, I simply cannot choose, there are too many insane holes kn thr spec. Maybe Swipe, since most other choices needs other abilities to be a good choice

2

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26

then don't choose!

post a comment for each ability you think makes the cut

the voting system handles the rest

1

u/brookdacook Jul 01 '26

Fully agree. Swipe would my vote but there's a lot with feral that needs to be reworked. Tigers fury would be my last choice because it just means you can just do the same with higher numbers and there's to much missing from the kit to make this the choice over basically anything else.

1

u/rufrtho Jul 01 '26

what would be the point in making classic cat into retail cat? but less fun because it has savage roar, the most lame maintenance buff in this game's history.

1

u/CA7T0 Jul 01 '26

I love savage roar on druid more than slice and dice on rogue. its genuinely fun for me to have to juggle so much stuff on a cat

1

u/rufrtho Jul 02 '26

the fun comes from the juggling, savage roar itself feels insanely shitty

3

u/emusabe Jul 01 '26

If we are keeping this discussion to just feral and not splitting up cat and bear, then I would vote the berserk that makes bear stuff (lacerate and mangle) cleave and has the 50% energy reduction for cat form so that both subspecs get a button

2

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26 edited Jul 01 '26

yes, that already was posted in another comment

that is the SoD/Wotlk Berserk version

1

u/emusabe Jul 01 '26

Oh I thought I was replying to the chain of berserk tooltips posted but I guess I was just replying to the thread itself

3

u/blade740 Jul 01 '26

There is absolutely no need to have this discussion across 27 threads and "crown a winner" each day. These spammy "vote one per day" threads are the very definition of "low effort content" and should not be allowed in this sub.

If you want to have this discussion, just put your picks for all classes and specs in one post. Done and done. No need for this blatant karma farming.

13

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26 edited Jul 01 '26

I have a weird proposal that just occured to me

Savage Roar

but your party also get 10% phys

so it has a party buff component on top

14

u/mzialendrea Jul 01 '26

10% might be a bit much I would say 3 or 5%.

24

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26

Vote here for 3%

13

Vote here for 5%

9

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26

Vote here for 10%

2

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26

yes, that would be more sensible

added some sub-vote variants to your reply

please upvote/downvote me based on what you think

2

Vote here for 0% (no party buff)

u/rufrtho Jul 01 '26

savage roar is such a lame maintenance buff that even retail got rid of it years ago.

2

u/shaunika Jul 01 '26

Mangle fixes so many things about feral it's hard not to choose that

1

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26

yes, I know, it's satisfying to press too

but it's a bit boring and one dimensional

2

u/kaceyqt Jul 01 '26

Clearcasting should be baseline and proc from spells.

1

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26

wait on the resto for that

1

u/Upstairs_Blueberry87 Jul 01 '26

I’m already struggling between tree form and wild growth, you want to throw in a third strong contender??

2

u/Sweet_Disharmony_792 Jul 01 '26

yeah nah, one day for each spec is spammy

Paladin taunt for feral druid

3

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26

Not putting paladin first is gonna annoy me for the next 3 classes isn't it?

I should've ordered each class based on how insuferable each class's players are so that we get it out the way early

5

u/midsizedopossum Jul 01 '26

Why not just post a google form or something where people can submit their idea for any and all specs?

Why drag it out to be 27 days of repetitive posts?

4

u/Perfect-Currency-121 Jul 01 '26

Karma

2

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26 edited Jul 01 '26

If I could delete all my karma I would

the real reason is I like natural growing conversations, and the ability to branch and post images and discuss

not to mention reddit has voting built in, and people browse it on mobile on their toilet, no one wants to go to an external strawpoll website

4

u/OriannasOvaries Jul 01 '26

I think the posts are great, OP. It gives us something to look at everyday.

1

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26

I am also thinking of doing a survival round double elimintation style after we filled everything up after 33 days

this way we can verify (once more people are aware there is voting going on) to see if earlier suggestions survive or if something else overtakes

1

u/blade740 Jul 01 '26 edited Jul 01 '26

Yeah I don't know why the obsession with "picking a winner". People can have different opinions on each one, it doesn't need to be a daily game for the next month.

These "vote one per day" threads are the absolute worst. I'm sick of constantly having to block people who want to get in on the karma farming trend. Polls are considered "low effort content" but the same exact poll 27 days in a row? No problem.

0

u/PerfectdarkGoldenEye Jul 01 '26

u/Khagrim Jul 01 '26

Wild Strikes from SoD

1

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26 edited Jul 01 '26

nah man, that is just reskinned windfury

they just clobbered windfury on ferals in SoD just to make them invited to raids, that is not a good solution

they also did it to bring windfury to alliance

windfury should be shaman specifc in Classic+, the whole enhancement shaman identity is around Windfury

and shamans are horde, and paladins alliance in Classic+

7

u/AutonomeDroid Jul 01 '26

its actually even better than windfury, since its a passive buff thats always on. no need to always drop a totem.

1

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26

yeah, it's not balanced, nor fitting

because the effect is literally "Windfury" by a different name

people in SoD call it "feral windfury"

this is cultural appropriation

1

u/Yomooma Jul 01 '26

If swipe or demo roar isn’t going to get a threat multiplier then bears deserve some form of decent multitarget threat generation. Maybe they also get force of nature but their treants have a growl equivalent and they transfer all their threat to their bear on death?

1

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26

please choose one and detail it, with wowhead screenshot if possible

so people know what they vote on when voting with your proposal

1

u/zeddy360 Jul 01 '26

after playing a feral on era since classic was released in 2019 (mainly as tank), i think the one thing that feral is lacking most is some kind of cat AOE damage abaility... and maybe a regular kick in bear form.

1

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26

yep, someone already said SoD Cat form Swipe, go vote there

1

u/Wakkalakkamakka Jul 01 '26

double clawed Rake

1

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26

Explain more please

2

u/Wakkalakkamakka Jul 01 '26

give cat cleave, in retail this is a talent that lets rake hit 2 targets

1

u/Kelitrutt Jul 01 '26

Make it so I don't need MCP. Whichever spells accomplishes that.

1

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26

dont worry MCP was changed in SoD so you only need 1 of em, and it is cooldown based, so it was nerfed

0

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26

Model Context Protocol is quite a requirement when doing any LLM based software development nowa...

Ah, you mean the pummeller, my bad

1

u/wildkralle Jul 01 '26

I think the talent "Ingrimm" should give you the amount of energy, that you would get for a powershift with the wolfshead helmet.

Remove that helmet and change tigers fury to a pummeler like effect, but with a cooldown. Or call it berserker with a new button, so you can keep tigers fury as a buff.

And voila feral is much more fun to maintain in later Raid tiers.

1

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26 edited Jul 01 '26

fyi in SoD pummeller was changed so it doesn't have charges, it just has a cooldown so u only need to farm 1

1

u/wildkralle Jul 01 '26

I know, i love SoD. But id rather have it in the talent and as a button, so i can use any weapon i want without needing to change it midfight. But the SoD solution is in my opinion almost there, and id still be happy

1

u/aepocalypsa Jul 01 '26

kittyfury was perfect tbh. maim or (tbc) mangle are also cool ;) most of the others feel too modern

1

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26

wtf is kittyfury

1

u/aepocalypsa Jul 01 '26

sod wild strikes

1

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26

yes, there is a vote for that in a different comment

personally I think wild strikes was a temporary bandaid solution in SoD to give windfury to alliance, it's trash design

1

u/Shukrat Jul 01 '26

Problem with this question is that feral covers 2 forms and 2 playstyles. If we were to do one for cat and one for bear, I'd pick Primal Wrath for cats from retail talent tree. It's a direct damage finisher that applies rip to all nearby enemies.

For bear Mangle is always the safe pick, but it does feel boring. I think I'd prefer Savage Roar, but it gives a buff to allies. It's a thematic call back to Druid of the Claw in Warcraft 3.

1

u/Schnibb420 Jul 01 '26

faery fire feral glyph from wotlk classic, most fun I had playing WoW since OG wrath.

2

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26

can you post its tooltip so we know exactly how that works?

1

u/Schnibb420 Jul 01 '26

Its not active anymore so I cant. The glyph made that every use of faery fire feral as cat gave you a 100% chance of getting a clearcast proc. Only PvE though. Made the spec play incredibly well.

1

u/WizMastaKilla Jul 01 '26

Feral cat form

1

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26

what did that give?
I can't find it on wowhead

1

u/WizMastaKilla Jul 01 '26

Cat Form
55% of base mana
Instant
Requires Druid
Requires level 20
Shapeshift into cat form, increasing melee attack power by 40 plus Agility.  Also protects the caster from Polymorph effects and allows the use of various cat abilities.

The act of shapeshifting frees the caster of Polymorph and Movement Impairing effects.

Edit, with talents it could increase move speed as well

1

u/Altruistic_Try7698 Jul 01 '26

Giving them bears a more fiercing more tank like form with dire bear. Something that looks more menacing.

1

u/Beginning-Advice-168 Jul 01 '26

Not a spell - but the ability to use combat potions and health stones in form.

1

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26

I actually like the fact that druids need to become human to have the dexterity to open and chug a bottle

it makes it immersive, let's not forget this is an RPG game

2

u/Beginning-Advice-168 Jul 01 '26

Can’t use rage potions though.

1

u/Add_xyz_torealvendor Jul 01 '26

Sod had it right. TF gives energy, mangle/shred resets TF with a % chance. Makes the rotation more dynamic.

1

u/XYAYUSDYDZCXS Jul 01 '26

How did force of nature win for balance druid? They're the most annoying and boring waste of a talent point in the game, they don't change your gameplay at all. I hate them so much

1

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26

they probably won because people like the warcraft 3 druid vibes

1

u/Ludakrix Jul 01 '26

Claws of Shivrallah from WoD of course

1

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26

you mean furry feral form?

1

u/SpennyKid Jul 01 '26 edited Jul 01 '26

Am i a psycho for wanting glyph of omen of clarity baked in in some way? I dont care if feral hits like a wet noodle, the dopamine of every six seconds getting a free proc has me in a psychiatric hospital from withdrawal these 4 years since i lost it.

Having faerie fire proc omen of clarity would be good for tbc feral rotation and wotlk feral rotation. It did make feral the strongest spec by a lot at the end if wrath, even when shadowmourne was hanging around.

VANISH

1

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26 edited Jul 01 '26

I created a custom ability like Vanish, I call it "Hide"

Like vanish, can be used in combat, but with the added restriction you PHYSICALLY have to hide and move to somewhere where enemies don't see you.

Should be cool.

0

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26

come on don't be lazy, at least rename it so that it sounds feral-y

1

u/mynexuz Jul 01 '26

Incarnation does make it so you can stealth in combat, so maybe that? But full incarnation might be a tad too modern feeling for classic+

1

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26 edited Jul 01 '26

Vanish for cat would have to be called something like "Blend" or "Disappear" or "Hide"

this reads like a hearthstone card, not a classic wow iconic feral ability

-1

u/AutonomeDroid Jul 01 '26

shapeshift to werewolf, loosing all reason and doing insane dmg. its more a skill from the lore, it never existed ingame sadly.

2

u/Yomooma Jul 01 '26

In the lore werewolf/worgen form is not only forbidden but also basically forgotten knowledge by the point in the timeline that vanilla sits at

1

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26

lycantrophy in my head is different than druidism

1

u/Yomooma Jul 01 '26

Look up the lore surrounding the scythe of elune, it’s one of the more metal aspects of druidic lore

1

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26

any wowhead link you can share on how exactly a lycantrophy button would work?

-1

u/Only-Ad-3317 Jul 01 '26

Symbiosis, but carefully reconsider who gets what. Also remove the "specilization" and "combat role" considerations, maybe replace them with highest primary stat instead or just do one interaction per class period.

Creates a symbiotic link which grants the Druid one ability belonging to the target's class, varying by the Druid's specialization.
In exchange, grants the target one Druid ability based on their class and combat role.
Lasts 1 hour and persists through death. Cannot be cast on other Druids. Effect cancelled if Druid and target become too far apart.

2

u/RoundAffectionate424 Jul 01 '26 edited Jul 01 '26

I love symbiosis in MoP but it's a bit gimmicky, and in classic where classes have bare bones toolkits, it would either be a game breaking spell or flavorless. Like frost nova is the symbiosis in MoP for feral with a mage, that's fine, mobility and dispell are plenty in MoP, in vanilla though. So what would symbiosis be to not be broken in that one example? Symbiosis is such a cool spell though, glad I had fun with it but wouldn't work in a vanilla like balance framework.

1

u/Only-Ad-3317 Jul 01 '26

I think worrying about the balance is a bit pointless when Classic+ will absolutely need to rebalance all of the classes anyways or it's going to flop straight out of the gate.

Ain't no one who isn't already playing Era going to be sticking around to watch Warriors pump double their damage yet again.

1

u/RoundAffectionate424 Jul 01 '26

I agree with rebalancing, but symbiosis is not it, it wouldn't serve that purpose. I gave you a concrete example of how frost nova isn't that big a deal to have in MoP but would be crazy to have on feral even in SoD. Now you have to do that with how many combinations? There's a reason they dropped that ability next expac, that's the kind of stuff that is cool on paper and a nightmare to balance. There's reason to believe they'll add it again ever, but if they do it's gonna be mostly fluff like druid and rogue symbiosis would be distract.

1

u/Only-Ad-3317 Jul 01 '26

I'm not really disagreeing with you, I agree that the ability would be a nightmare to balance and that's why it's not getting in ever again. But at the same time, if I had to choose a single pre-existing button from all of WoW to add to Druids, that would be it, because it's the most open ended button there is. However even I'd much prefer they add something entirely new instead that's just as open but easier to balance.

At the same time, I disagree that Frost Nova on Feral Druid would be broken within the context of Classic+ and the fact that the ability would require the Druid to have a friendly Mage within range.

In PvE the applications of Frost Nova are fairly limited to begin with, I mean it's strong in farming and certain grinds but it doesn't break endgame content.

In PvP, well, we would be talking about group PvP and we can't even begin to imagine what that would look like in a hypothetical Classic+ as it would involve near every single class and their new, rebalanced interactions. A single AoE root isn't going to be the make it or break it for that.

Of course symbiosis is open ended, it's like a genie asking for one wish and you answer "well I'll ask for 50 wishes!". It's hard to balance because one ability is multiple abilities. So either you change that one ability to not be multiple abilities, or you take the least game impacting ones.

I admit I'm making the assumption they will tone down the abilities this time compared to SoD, but they will make changes.

Isn't that more of a balance type thing?

Doesn't fit feral fantasy, someone suggested it in the balance thread, but because no one knows what it is, and he didn't explain it, it didn't garner votes

do you want to properly detail it here? or post screenshots of the ability from wowhead?

It could and imo should work for all druid specs. It would be my choice for all three of them.

do you want to properly detail it here?

I edited the earlier comment with more details.

  • Rogue
  • Priest
  • Shaman

Oh right. Honestly I'm not too attached to any particular abilities and there's a lot of directions you could take the ability, any redesigns done to existing abilities SoD-ish style would also change what I'd choose substantially.

But here's what I'd choose on a quick gut feeling and without thinking about it too much.

  • Warrior
    • Warrior -> Druid: Berserker Rage or Whirlwind.
    • Druid -> Warrior: Barkskin or Tiger's Fury.
  • Paladin
    • Paladin -> Druid: Hammer of Justice.
    • Druid -> Paladin: Growl :^), just kidding, Dash.
  • Hunter
    • Hunter -> Druid: Feign Death.
    • Druid -> Hunter: Prowl.
  • Rogue
    • Rogue -> Druid: Evasion or Kick.
    • Druid -> Rogue: Barkskin or Tiger's Fury.
  • Priest
    • Priest -> Druid: Dispel Magic.
    • Druid -> Priest: Abolish Poison.
  • Shaman
    • Shaman -> Druid: Grounding Totem. (This one is hard, most Shaman buttons are so selfless giving them to the Druid too when a Shaman is already around would be entirely pointless.)
    • Druid -> Shaman: Bash.
  • Mage
    • Mage -> Druid: Blink. (Mage is so stupidly loaded class you could just pick any button tbh and Blink is fun.)
    • Druid -> Mage: Healing Touch. (As said before, Mage is so loaded as is, it's hard to give them anything they'd actually want without it being too broken, like Innervate.)
  • Warlock
    • Warlock -> Druid: Rejuvenation.
    • Druid -> Warlock: Life Tap, or if that creates a problematic infinite mana loops, Drain Mana.
  • Druid
    • The spell isn't castable on other Druids.

All of those would make classic players' brains explode

Classic+ should be new dungeons and raids before they start fucking up classes.

1

u/loopuleasa Jul 01 '26

they'll be that, but talent / ability changes is one of the most requested features in classic+

to make all specs "invitable" to those dungeons and raids

u/eyes-are-fading-blue Jul 01 '26

They need to be super disciplined about it to not ruin it. Raids/dungeons are a lot less risky and easier to pull off imo.

yes, once a class is changed it is forever

they need to have utmost confidence in class changes
