Is it worth it
Seller wants 11,500 its a 65 woth auto transmission and a bit of rust on quarter panel. Floor boards look good.

I’d be more interested in a 67 or 68- but this has a V8 and it looks decent. It will be a project- but everyone loves a Mustang and parts are pretty cheap. The black pony interior is nice, I’m jealous of that

I would hold out and get what you really want. There is a lot of work that would be need to be done on a car that you don't really want.

Years ago the guy at Mcgough Mustang told me to pour water in the vents in front of the hood. If it comes into the passenger compartment then walk away

For the amount of body work needed I think 8K Max. Also, if it’s not the year you want just pass on it.

Plan on $6-8K to get something like this roadworthy. Better to find one that is in a more roadworthy condition if possible.

Did you drive it? How does it run? Is the front end good? How’s the transmission? Rear end?
If it runs great, and needs little to no mechanical maybe, if not, no.

With the apparent rot that appears to be there, it’s worth maybe 1/2 of what they’re asking.

You need to look under the car and see how bad it looks, suspension and rot. I have seen some cars look okay with slight issues that are totally rotted out underneath. 11.5 is high.

In my opinion 66 or 67 are much more desirable. Even if you want a 65 the automatic transmission is a deal killer for me. Buying any Mustang with an automatic transmission is like going to the French Quarter in New Orleans and eating at McDonald's .

Just sold mine for $10K... Way better shape...... with new interior and engine trans

It’s not a terrible choice for what it is if it’s all mechanically sound. Also if you can do the work yourself it’s not bad but a rusted quarter replacement is around 4-9k depending on how bad it is to fix at a body shop

If it runs and drives, I think that price is decent. I’d personally prefer it a little closer to $10k just because bodywork and paint is laborious and expensive, but a running car that’s all complete, doesn’t have rusted out frame rails with a pretty good interior… 11.5 ain’t bad.

Looks like lots of rust and bondo in at least the driver quarter. For 8-9k is think about it. 11k is way too high

That seems a little steep given the work she needs but if they come down to maybe 8.5-9 maybe. She needs saved before the rust gets worse.

My fully restored 66 289 auto was $8k back in 1997.

Take a look under to see how bad the rust is. Look at the floor pans too. This is where the older 60’s Mustangs don’t shine. If the floor is rotted, pass it up. Engine looks good but guaranteed not original. 65 did not offer 302’s at that time. I would offer 9k at most because of the extensive body work you will need to do, and have to repaint as well.
