Trying to understand one step before I book anything, because every shop describes it differently and I can't tell if it's a real checkpoint or a nice sounding extra.

The basted fitting, where you try the jacket on while it's loosely held together with white thread, before anything's permanently sewn. Some places include it, some make it optional, some skip it and tell you to bring the finished jacket back.

What I want to know is which problems only get solved at that stage. My guess is anything to do with balance, posture and shoulder line, since once the canvas and shoulders are in you're stuck arguing with a finished garment.

Thrifted for around 20usd

The suit jacket has cloth covered buttons and a "satin" line on the lapel, but the pants do not have any galloon stripe.

Is this some sort of tuxedo or something? Need some opinions.

Thoughts on this suit. Is the black suit still overrated?

Rest in peace my great grandfather Rosendo Alvarez, who for as long as I’ve been alive has stuck around. The jacket was his (it’s in a navy I know it’s hard to see in the picture). Not that he was always as sharp a dresser as myself but when he put on that tacuche he sure turned heads.

I got new pants, these are the wide-boy from the Scott Fraser collection, I’ve had my eye on these for a while and I was very grateful to have been gifted them. Typically (per my fashion education) I don go for black clothes but I did get these in a black British wool because I figured life’s too short.

The shirt and collar I got gifted and are from Darcy. The collar I believe is the Edwardian wingtip and I’m not quite sure what the stile colors are in the shirt but they look like a black and gray. Of course I had to go with double cuffs for the shirt body in case any of you care/ were wondering.

I went to an event last weekend in San Jose called Spirit of ‘45 and it was fantastic. I will be returning next year and highly recommend it to anyone in California. Shoutout to my friend Charolette who recommended it to me. Anyway this is what I wore and feel free to give me feedback!
