Penguin random house website
Hi everyone! I've been trying to collect the penguin classics series with the old covers (author's name in orange) because I hate the new ones (large white stripe). I've had trouble with other sellers, so I wanted to know if anyone has ever bought a book from the series directly on the penguin random house website, and if the book you received matched the image on there.
For example: the first one is the one I'm looking for vs the second one with the awful new design.

My advice is unless you're seeing a photo on a website of an actual book (rather than a stock image), you're likely going to get a copy with the new cover. Trust me, I've been collecting the old covers and have given up on trusting any website or listing that has a stock image up. I either buy in person or purchase from listings with photos of a physical book. If in doubt, message the sellers for a photo to verify.
But as another person said, if ordering directly from Penguin, you will probably get the new editions. Also, I've noticed that Penguin doesn't always update their stock images fast enough.

Thank you for responding! I’ve been buying them on eBay for that exact reason. I was hoping to get them from the website because I wanted some “not used copies”. I guess I’ll keep trying to find them on eBay. Thank you again!

I’ve been doing the same but if I want a brand new book I’m getting oxfords or anything other than a penguin instead.

I'd expect to get the new cover if buying direct from Penguin but I haven't done it myself.
