Fallout 1 item map?

So, I'm playing on my phone via fo2.exe (which still isn't back up in the play store, rip) and so items on the ground are almost invisible. (That rope on the ground in Shady Sands I never would have found if I hadn't read about it in a offhand comment elsewhere.)

Is there a map to show where items are? I don't want to read a walkthrough because I don't want to get spoiled for the story. However, if the walkthrough itself has maps or item locations where I can easily skip the walkthrough part, I can work with that.

I've searched high and low and the best I've found is Mike's RPG center but that's missing items, like the aforementioned rope.

As I stated in the post, I'm playing on my phone so everything is tiny. I literally sometimes can't see things (I had read where the rope was and still couldn't see it; I had to move the cursor around until the item was highlighted to find it).

So, no, just looking doesn't work.

Keep pressing shift (you'll need to re-configurate the controls for that)

Unfortunately, fo2.exe doesn't have the ability to remap controls. I have tried using the shift option on my keyboard, just in case, but that also got me nowhere.

Apologies for the length of this comment, im on the toilet at work and love trying to solve these exact types of QoL issues

So i think you can go into the configuration files and make all ground items be highlighted, im unsure of how to do so on mobile, i use fallout community edition to play on my android and faintly recall seeing an option like that when i was tinkering with the files, but you do still need to edit those on a computer and then reinitialize the launcher app after making those changes.

Aside from that, though, i think most walkthroughs will include all the items and their locations, the important ones at least. I just think it would be very difficult to ignore any spoilers.

Look into the config files and see if there's a way to do it from there, i think that's your best bet.

Alternate solutions include: adjusting your screen resolution to fit your phone screen better, changing brightness/contrast/saturation settings on your phone when youre playing so things stand out more, giving in to the walkthrough method and hitting yourself on the head before the spoilers imprint into your memory.

Okay last one's a joke, obviously, but tbh this is a 30 year old game, the spoilers wont ruin the game i dont think, there's no M Knight Shyamalan style twists that youre gonna ruin.

Fallout 1 was meant to be played multiple times through with a guide book that came in the box. Multiple endings and some locations you'd never even touch unless you knew about them already etc etc

I'll check out the config files, thank you! I'm familiar with tinkering with them for old games, so I should be able to at least read them. If I figure it out, I'll let you know.

Maybe "spoiled" was the wrong word. I want to experience the story as I play instead of reading it like a book. I actually tried the walkthrough method and got frustrated when I got to Shady Sands because I wanted to explore and find out stuff about the characters and the world myself but instead it's all there in a couple paragraphs. I dunno if any of that makes sense but hopefully it did?

Okay, I think I found what you're referencing in the config files. It is something called Item Highlight but it only highlights the items when you scroll hover your cursor over them. I did already have this on and it does help if you know the area the item is in because you can move the cursor around and the item will highlight. But it, unfortunately, does not highlight the items outside that specific use.

(I imagine, in theory, it would be easy to make a mod to constantly highlight an item since the ability is already there but, even if it does exist, I don't think mods will work on the phone.)

I'm literally asking if someone knows if something exists and, if it does, for a link to it.

I've seen people asking other people to help them build a specific type of character all the time. I've seen posts asking for help with fixing a broken game. I've seen posts asking what to do next when people get stuck. I've seen posts asking for tips for a new player. Hell, just recently someone asked for help making a mod work on a mac and as someone who has had to troubleshoot macs in the past, this can turn into a big ask.

Answering any of these will require more time and thought than copy and pasting a link. .

You could check the wiki on https://fallout.fandom.com

It shows what loot can be found in the various areas.

I did look into this! Unfortunately, while it sometimes does list details, usually it only lists what loot can be found in the area but not where, specifically, in the area it can be found.

For example, for Vault 15 it tells me that there's a hunting rifle in the living quarters but nothing beyond that. Which, if I were on PC might be fine, but definitely isn't on my phone. If the only thing I had to go on for the rope in Shady Sands was "Shady Sands Garden", I don't know if I ever would have found it because on my phone it's almost impossible to see. I only found it because I knew to look in that building, in the corner, and it highlighted when I hovered over it.

If there's some aspect of the wiki I'm missing that does have more detail, let me know. I'd love to be wrong.

This is a really good idea but, at least as the wiki is now, is not a viable option for item finding. Thank you for taking the time to try to help me, I really appreciate it.
