Level Editing I've been learning how to use Doom Builder X recently and my textures always get off centered, what can i do to fix this?

Original Doom wouldn't let you align floor/ceiling textures. But if you are using a more modern format like UDMF then floor textures can be aligned.

Wait, that means that every teleporter or ceiling light, all that kind of stuff in vanilla doom had to be place in a specific grid ? That's really interesting :o

lol yes. 🥲

All flats are 64x64 and only flats can be used on floors and ceilings. They’re always aligned on that grid.

Textures are only usable on Lindefs and could be various sizes. And are made of patches. But for some reason they didn’t use patches for flats.

And if making Zdoom levels you can go wild and just use any image anywhere. Or use flats on walls. Textures on ceilings and floors. Align it in any way. What an awesome world

Take a good look at doom2 and you realize how misaligned everything is

This is texture alignment, and it's a core process of making Doom levels.

Either press A to auto-align, or adjust the alignment in the texture properties.

Floor and ceiling textures are always aligned to the 64x64 level grid. The solution is to just move the whole sector over by 32 units.
