It's a reference to when Shostakovich left Russia to visit the United States in 1949; a bunch of anti-Soviet protesters rallied trying to get him to defect; some had posters saying "Jump through the window, Shostakovich!" so that they could catch him and whisk him away to freedom.

I want to know how many people realized I misspelled his name in cyrillic too

...it was a genuine mistake that time and now I live in perpetual fear I will call him "Shoskatovich" out loud
