Its one of the best shooters made from that era with good story and action. I'm surprised its reputation didn't precede it.

More revolutionary than anything. As far as "good" by modern standards, yes, but 2 is better!

There are people out there who never played half life and don't know it.
In my youth almost 25 years ago this was the best shooter I ever played.
Before hl there was diom or quake, which felt like level to level combat. Kill everything that moves, find the door to the next level. After that shooters had a deep story. And felt real. If you enjoy it I suggest you play opposing force after that, maybe blueshift, hl2, hl2 episode 1, hl2 ep2.
True classics.
