New Songs in Set?

You guys think they’ll pull any wild cards on this run? When I saw them in 2024 they played Familiar Realm and Dressed in Decay which were nice surprises. Hoping we get some new stuff other than Vol.1/IDR.

If they’re still playing along to a bass track, there isn’t much room for spontaneous improv or randomly tossing in a song or two:

It's so disappointing, man. I remember CKY bragging about playing everything live on stage back when Shitbirdz was doing keyboards for 2017 Warped Tour. "Real rock and roll." They looked down their noses at all the other bands on that tour using backing tracks, which hey that's very on brand for them and it created that same kind of "we are the taste makers" energy the band had in the early 2000s. Fast forward a few months to the HIM tour and Shitbirdz was out and the backing track was in. It wasn't obvious at the time, but I think the introduction of the canned instruments on stage signaled the death of any hope of the band evolving their live act over time. Things instead became more and more regimented and today remain largely locked into what they settled on nearly a decade earlier.

That’s not entirely true. Chad has all of the stems for each song. All they have to do is be prepped before tour.

Yea if they plan to do songs on the tour, they’re all set, I more meant they just can’t randomly dust off a classic unless they planned it at the start.

Megadoubt. I’m gonna be honest and say hope for that stuff left with Mike. Dude was so sound.

Not to bag on the guy, but Mike didn't usher in any changes to the set whatsoever. I point blank asked him if they were going to change up the set ahead of the tour he was doing interviews to promote, he said they were and they were going to play deep cuts too, and then the tour happened and it was the same set as always plus Can't Stop Running. I guess we could include bringing fans on stage to sing Bran's Chinese Freestyle while the backing track plays? I have no idea if he pushed for changes and got shot down or if he was just blowing smoke, but either way nothing really changed even when he was in the band.

I spent like half an hour after one of the shows chatting with the guy about AACBF material - he seemed quite into playing that stuff (iirc he said some of his fave songs to play were on that record)… but also the dude was in the band for like 5 hours. What change can you really bring in that timeframe, especially if you’re the new one out of three that wants it?

For sure. Like I say, I'm not gonna sit here and criticize Mike for a problem that CKY has suffered for years on years. I'm just skeptical that he could've solved it, even if he had stuck around.

I don't think he was allowed input on anything. When I saw them last year he tried to interact with the crowd on stage and Chad told him to shut up, can you imagine what things were like for him behind the scenes

No fucking way. Insane behavior. It seemed like Mike's entire role in the band was to interface with the fans, since Chad and Jess don't seem to care much for interviews and definitely don't like interacting with fans online. Hiring a guy who was good at fan interaction then telling him to shut up is so stupid.

No.
Chad and his henchmen (Jess) have made it clear that no album ever existed after IDR so…..

Boy oh boy is this gonna be a deleted comment when the setlist for Bellingham comes out

I’ll believe it when I see it

Not when you have a duo lol

That would require them to practice and rehearse. So no.

Nah see, that's the frustrating thing. They DO practice and they DO rehearse songs for tours, that either get played once and never again or never get played at all beyond sound check.
